Hi there, I stumbled onto your list because my husband-to-be and I are actually looking for some less conventional songs to dance to at our wedding. We really like "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed and were considering that although it may be a little too dour (and conjure up too many images of Renton overdosing in Trainspotting) for a first dance. I'll check out that Bowie song. I'm not familiar with it. Great list, either way, thanks!

for including "Don't Change" by INXS. One of the most heartfelt songs ever, although because of the music style, probably is never really consider a romantic love song. Just listen to the lyrics. I also admire "In Your Eyes" by P.G., at one time my most favourite song of all time...

This was well-written and well thought out. It proves that a love song doesn't have to be a Michael Bolton schlockfest--a lot of the best love songs are understated.

I always get a bit concerned about love song choices, in case I get bombarded with memories of Commodores/Richie songs - that said, I always hated the Violent Femmes!
My partner tells me she always thinks of "What Do I Get?" by the Buzzcocks, as "our song" - what could she mean!

I really love "question of lust" - have you ever heard them do it live? It made me positively melt. And I think "Perfect Day" might be one of my favorite songs of all time.
