| Naomi7835's Full Review: Mr. Clean MagicReach Starter Kit |
This past week I received this new P&G pre-launch product called Mr. Clean MagicReach Starter Set. I'd like to thank David of Hass MS&L for giving me the opportunity to try it out. I also agreed to write a review all about it giving my totally unbiased and honest opinion.
HERE'S WHAT CAME IN THE BOX:
3 Silver aluminum poles
Soft rubber flexible head
2-Mopping floor/Multipurpose cleaning pads. These can be used for cleaning floors, counters, and sinks.
2-Scrubbing Tub/Shower pads. These can be used for cleaning shower walls, shower doors, tubs and faucets.
After reading the package directions, I proceeded to assemble the 3 poles together. I do have to admit it took me a little time to finally attach all of the 3 poles together. But I finally got them all in the right place and locked the pole securely in place. The pole will extend up to 4 feet, and is nice for cleaning high places, that you normally would have a hard time getting to. I'm only 5 foot tall, so I was anxious to try out this Mr. Clean Bathroom Cleaning Tool to clean the top part of my Bathroom tiles.
You can also adjust the pole smaller to about 26 inches. This will make it easy to clean any dirty surface that may need a little more pressure to the surface and little more of a heavier scrubbing.
The Flexible head is blue and is about is 4-1/2 inches wide by 9 inches long. Each end of the head comes to a point, which makes it easy to get into hard corners and hard to get places. The head also has a comfortable handle. It can be used on the pole or it can be removed to use as a hand tool for cleaning also.
After we had taken our showers for the day, I decided to clean the bathtub and tile. I removed the Tile/Shower cleaning pad from the foil lined package. The cleaning side of the cleaning pad had a sort of a waffled look effect to it with blue strips of soap in it.
The pad was easy to put onto the cleaning head. One end of the pad had a cuff, this is where you slip the front of the head into the cuff. At the other end of the cleaning head there is a spot with several rubber slits in. This is where you poke the other end of the cleaning pads 2 corners down into the slits. This will keep the pad from slipping off of the cleaning head while your cleaning.
To activate the Tub/Shower pad, you have to run warm water over the pad. I just filled my bathtub with a little bit of water, and wet the pad good. The pad became very soapy and easy to clean with. The scent from the cleaning pad was a nice clean smell, but I found it to be a tad strong for me. I get headaches easily and I am overly sensitive to many scents. So all I did was open my bathroom window a little while I cleaned the tub and tiles, and the scent did fade some, where I finally could tolerate the scent. I also went over the entire outside of my bathtub also.
I keep a spray bottle of water, under my bathroom sink. This is what I used to rinse off the cleaning solution on the tub and the tiles also. I have to admit that The Mr. Clean MagicReach did a fantastic job on cleaning the tub and tiles, and left both the tub and tiles looking clean and shiny. I usually clean the tub and tiles 2 or 3 times a week so I don't get a lot of soap scum built up. So I really didn't have to scrub hard to remove the soap scum. And even my tub faucets had a nice shine also. Although I did wipe the faucets off after rinsing them off with water with a paper towel to avoid any water spots.
Then I took the pad off, rinsed it out in a little water, and hung it in my garage to dry. When it had dried I place it in a ziploc bag and put it in my bathroom cabinet. I figured there was still enough soap left in the pad for another tub and tile cleaning for another day.
The next cleaning task was to clean my bathroom sink. To do this I had to remove the head from the pole. Now removing the head from the pole was easy. All I had to do was to push in the 2 blue buttons that are on the lower handle and removed the head from the pole. Then I put the Mopping floor/Multipurpose cleaning pad on the cleaning head. This pad will clean the floor and can be used also for other surfaces like sinks and counters. Being it was pre-moistened it, I didn't have to wet it to activate it, and it had a real nice scent that wasn't strong at all for me.
Cleaning the sink was easy, but it was a little difficult to clean in between the faucets. So I removed the cleaning pad from the head and place it over my fingers on my hand like a mitt and did manage to clean in between the two faucets. After rinsing out the sink, I decided to clean the inside of my bathroom door where there were a few fingerprint marks. With the same pad I went on to clean my commode. The top of the tank, the toilet seat and all around the bottom of the commode all got a thorough cleaning. Then I took a wet paper towel and went over all of the surfaces with the wet towel. I really didn't want to save that cleaning pad, especially after cleaning the commode, so after I finished cleaning with that pad, I just threw the dirty cleaning pad in the trash.
If your using the cleaning pads as sort of a mitt on your hands, I would be careful and not leave the pad on to long, especially if you have sensitive skin, you could experience some skin irritation. If your skin is really sensitive it might be a good idea to not even use the cleaning pad as a mitt on your hand. After I finished using the mitt on my hand to clean I didn't have any problems with any skin irritation at all.
I was on a roll now, and was anxious to clean my bathroom floor. Being my bathroom is small, I usually clean my floor on my hands and knees. But with this Mr. Clean MagicReach long pole and the swivel head I figured it would reach behind the commode, and would be a lot easier to clean the whole floor, instead cleaning it on my hands and knees.
I slipped the other Mopping Floor pad onto the head. The floor cleaning pad comes pre-moistened so I didn't have to activated it in water. The extended size of the pole was great for me while I cleaned the floor. It got into the corners behind my door, and around the sink cabinet. Even though the head swivels, I found it a little difficult to get in back of my commode to clean it real thoroughly. So I removed the head and got on my hands and knees and reached back and was able to clean the back part of the commode and floor quite well, which I cleaned in less then a minute. I slipped the head back on the pole and finished cleaning the rest of the floor. The floor came out nice and clean, and I didn't have to rinse the floor off like I did when I cleaned the bathtub and wall tiles with the tub/shower pad.
Using the Mr. Clean MagicReach to clean the floor still beats having to get down on my hands and knees to do the whole floor, and It only took me a few minutes to clean the floor. Usually when I've cleaned the bathroom floor on my hands and knees before it did take a little longer then when I used the Mr. Clean MagicReach.
A FEW CAUTIONS:
These disposable cleaning pads should never be flushed down the toilet. After using the pad it should be tossed away in the trash.
These cleaning pads should also be kept out of the reach of children and pets also.
Do not use on natural stone, non-sealed tiles, unfinished, oiled or waxed wooden boards or carpet. If you have old worn or delicate surfaces you should test in a inconspicuous area before using.
The Mr. Clean MagicReach is not recommended for cleaning mirrors, because of streaking if not rinsed and dried thoroughly.
Another nice thing is that This Mr. Clean MagicReach Bathroom Cleaner contains no phosphate.
STORING THE MR.CLEAN MAGICREACH:
At the end of the pole there is a blue plastic strip that can be slid up. At the end of the blue strip there is a curved hook so the cleaning pole can be hung up very easily. I keep mine hung up in the garage along with my other cleaning tools.
One thing though, I did find the Tub/Shower Cleaning pad solution a tad bit strong for me. I will finish using the Tub/Shower cleaning pad that I used once, dried and had put away for another cleaning. I don't think I will be buying any of the Tub/Shower cleaning pads in the near future. I don't mind opening my window to help eliminate some of the scent, but I don't want to open my window in the middle of winter when its freezing outside to clean my tub and tiles. I do have a bathtub cleaning brush with a long handle that I have used to clean the tub and wall tiles before, and it doesn't have to have cleaning pads to clean. It does a great job on cleaning as well as the Mr. CleanMagic System did. I guess I will go back to using my old brush once again to clean my bathroom tub and tiles once again.
Now the Mopping/Floor cleaning pad scent to me had a milder scent which was nice and the smell didn't bother me at all. The scent wasn't as strong as the Tub/Shower cleaning pads were. I will purchase these Mopping Floor/Multipurpose cleaning pads to use on my bathroom floor when I find them in the store. Even though I found the Tile/Shower pads a little strong smelling, the cleaning pads did do a great job on cleaning my bath tub and wall tiles.
And now no more cleaning my bathroom floor on my hands and knees again. Well maybe I will have to clean behind the commode still on my knees, but cleaning the whole bathroom floor standing up is a lot easier now.
Yup the Big Bald Guy came through with a great cleaning system. Even though I am overly sensitive to certain cleaner smells, and found the Tile/Shower pad scent too strong for me, I'm sure other's will be able to tolerate the scent. I still don't enjoy having to clean the bathroom, but with this Mr. Clean MagicReach cleaning system it makes my job a little easier when I have to clean my bathroom floor and a lot quicker to get done. So I guess you could say that Mr. Clean does perform Magic.
