The Bottom Line I highly recommend Gerber Finger Foods Veggie Wagon Wheels as a wholesome, easy to chew snack for any baby learning to self-feed.

I've recently come across a wonderful new product made by Gerber and was anxious to write a review on it. I was quite disappointed (but not surprised) when I found out that Epinions has not yet added this product to their database. I did feel, however, that the topic "What Should You Know About Gerber" best suited my review as I will be introducing this company's new product to you. When-and if- Epinions adds this product I will move this review. Thanks for reading!

My 11 month old daughter is picky and I'm not referring to the 'refuse-a-food-one-day-and-eat-it-the-next day' picky, I'm talking long term food strike type picky! (now that was a mouthful!) She is a very sensitive and fastidious baby by nature so this characteristic of her eating style seems to fall in line with her personality quite well though I'm hoping it doesn't stick around too long! She tolerates Stage 1 foods with ease (though it's a battle to get her to actually consume any of it) but anything with more texture causes a full fledged gagging and fussing scene. Our pediatrician claims that she is healthy and developing well but seems to be one of those babies who needs more time adjusting to textures, so I am to take things slowly and provide plenty of opportunities for my daughter to practice with foods of varying textures. I started her off with bananas and softened (soggy) Cheerios (yum, right?) but her tastebuds (or her finicky personality) told her, no way mom! So off I went in search of a nutritious textured food that she could practice with and that I could get her to actually eat

Has her Prince arrived?
You bet it did! In the form of a new product called Gerber Finger Foods. I came across this product while grocery shopping and figured I didn't have much to lose, aside from the minuscule $1.99 I paid for the item. It was love at first 'bite' for my daughter!

Gerber Finger Foods Product Info
There were two varieties of this product available on my grocer's shelf- Veggie Wagon Wheels and Fruit Wagon Wheels. I purchased the Veggie variety. The product is packaged in a vibrant yellow and blue 1.48 oz canister.

-Appearance
These 'wheels' remind me somewhat of larger pieces
of Honeycomb cereal. They are just the right size for baby to be able to pick up and hold onto.

-Texture
Gerber Finger Foods Veggie Wagon Wheels are light and airy. They are crunchy yet have that melt-in-your-mouth texture that makes it easy for baby to chew and swallow.

-Taste,Smell
I couldn't help it, I had to taste these little wheels! Afterall, they smelled pretty good-unlike most baby foods! The package claims that they contain real carrot and cheese flavor and they most definitely smelled like cheese. After my first bite, I was quickly reminded that I was sampling a food made for a baby. That's right-bland as bland can be! Not that bland is necessarily bad but the package can't convince me that there was any cheese flavor to it, smell maybe, but definitely not flavor. Will your baby care? Probably not!

Nutrition Facts
Gerber Finger Foods Veggie Wagon Wheels are intended as a snack food for babies and are enriched. They contain Vitamins A, C, and E as well as calcium, iron, phosphorus and zinc and do not contain any artificial colors.

Is my baby ready for Gerber Finger Foods?
Gerber Finger Foods, Veggie Wagon Wheels are intended for babies who have reached the following milestones: crawls on hands and knees with tummy up and off the floor, eats thicker, lumpier foods and mashes foods with gums. Please remember to always supervise babies and young children during any feeding or snack time.

My Final Thoughts
I am quite pleased (as is my daughter) with Gerber Finger Foods Veggie Wagon Wheels and hope that this is a step for her towards tolerating more textures at mealtime.

If you're looking for a wholesome snack for your baby and he/she is learning to master the art of self-feeding, then I highly recommend giving Gerber Finger Foods Veggie Wagon Wheels a try. If you'd like additional information, you can visit the Gerber website at www.gerber.com or call them, 1-800-4-GERBER.

Thanks for reading my review! :)
