Baby Age is another one of those online stores that sells tons of baby gear.
MERCHANDISE
You can find all the typical baby gear on this site: cribs, a small selection of bedding, strollers, car seats and the like. Baby Age seems to sell most of the common baby gear with brand names including Graco and Little Tykes. I didn't see much in the way of baby clothes. I also didn't see the higher priced lines including European-made gear such as Peg Perego and Maclauren.
SHOPPING
The shopping experience is pretty bare bones. There are small pictures of the items for sale. I didn't see independent customer reviews. The descriptions of the items they were selling were pretty basic. You are better off researching items elsewhere and checking this site to see if they carry the item you want at the best price.
PRICES
I landed at this site because it had the best price on a stationary play center that I was interested in. Other sites, including Target, had the play center for $80. It was on sale at Baby Age for $50. Plus, Baby Age was offering free shipping so it was a great deal.
ORDERING
The ordering process was easy and I only had to plug in my information once and go through two screens. They did not require me to select a password.
STEALS AND DEALS
They participate in Ebates and I got a 4% rebate. Of course, these things change all the time so it makes sense to check the rebates sites before making a purchase.
I searched the internet and found coupon codes for free shipping and 10% off my purchase price. The home page of the Baby Age site also had a code for free shipping. You can not combine offers. For my purchase, the free shipping was the best offer.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
I got an email when my item shipped. Two days after I placed my order, I got another email saying my item was backordered for 48 hours. Then I got another email stating my item shipped a day later. All in all, my item arrived in a week so I was satisfied.
SHIPPING
My item arrived a week after I placed my order. I thought this was timely and about what I expected.
PACKAGING
The play center was shipped in the manufacturer's carton. They did not add any extra packaging or padding. The play center arrived in good condition but I would have liked to see some padding. Unfortunately, this seems to be the trend. Most stores that I have ordered bulky baby gear from have shipped the item in the original packaging without anything extra.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
This site has some good prices and I recommend checking it out for baby gear and other baby stuff. The shopping experience was pretty basic so I don't recommend spending a lot of time on the site. Still, my item was easy to order, a good price, arrived in good condition and in the time I expected. I am giving this site 4 stars. I deducted one based on the limited amount of information on the site about the merchandise.
