All About Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up

Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up is a 10 page board book that was written by Gill Davies and illustrated by DRi Artworks. It was published in 2001 by Reader's Digest Children's Book.

The story starts off with Noddy trying to do his laundry. After he would finish washing an article of clothing by hand, he would then go to hang it up and every time he did he would discover that the piece of clothing wasn't his. He pulls out a silky scarf, a fleecy hat, a straw hat, a shiny helmet and a pink fuzzy hat. Noddy is perplexed because none of these items belongs to him. Could the windy day have something to do with the mix-up? Will the articles of clothing find their rightful owners?

Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up is a soft tabs book. Basically what that means is that attached to each page is a piece of fabric in the shape of a tab. The tabs are made of different pieces of fabric and follow the story. Like when Noddy pulls out the silky scarf, attached to that page is a silk tab. When he pulls out a straw hat, attached to that page is a straw like fabric tab.

The illustrations in Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up are extremely vivid and colorful. Each page is awash is bright primary colors making this book very appealing to children. The pictures will certainly catch their attention and hold it there!

Why We Recommend Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up

Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up is a perfect book for children to explore the feel of different textures. Courtney absolutely loved this book and would sit fascinated by the way the tabs felt in her hand. With 5 different textures to choose from, her little hands had plenty to play with. She also enjoyed the story because of all the hats in it. Invariably, while looking at this book, she would go and come back with one of her own hats on her head. One of her favorite things to do with this book though was to teeth on it, especially on the straw tab as it must have felt good on her sore gums at the time.

I also like Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up. I like the fact that it's a board book and it was one I didn't have to worry about when my daughter was in a ripping books phase. I also liked the fun factor that this book has and that it's unique from the other books in her bookcase. Also, while the book itself isn't washable, I've had luck spot cleaning the fabric tabs when they've become grungy. The final thing I like about Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up is that the tabs are secured very well. I can yank and pull on them and they don't rip or move an inch. That's especially comforting because I have no idea how I would repair the book should the tabs ever happen to rip out. Thankfully that doesn't look like it's going to be a problem!

Overall, both Courtney and I highly recommend Noddy's Wash Day Mix-Up. It's a unique book that is educational and very adorable. I know Noddy isn't huge here in America but I can guarantee that your child would enjoy having this book in their library!
