Toyota vehicles have always been dependable. The 2004 Camry is no exception.
Camry has three trims. The base LE, SE with optional V6 and XLE with optional V6. I recently bought a 2004 Camry SE and am very satisfied.
I picked the SE trim because it is only around $22,000, not much more than the base LE model. It offers a lot more than the base through. Notably, a sport tuned suspension, rear spoiler, alloy wheels, sun roof, power everything, remote keyless entry and bigger tires. The SE with V6 cost considerably more while not offering much more useful features other than the bigger engine. A well equipped XLE camry costs about the same as an entry level Lexus. After comparing the different trims, I felt the SE offers the best value for the money.
The SE comes with 2.4 liter four cylinder engine. It provides decent acceleration, not great but enough for getting in and out of busy traffic. It gets good gas mileage. A tank of gas will get you 400 to 500 miles. The car's handling is very smooth, takes corners well and gives a overall comfortable ride. The workmanship is near perfection as usual.
My only disappointment with the Camry is its brakes. I like to feel the car slowing as I apply the brakes, but the Camry seems to only responds when a significant amount of pressure has been applied. This doesn't seem to happen to other Toyota vehicles.
