| germank106's Full Review: Febreze Air Effects |
We recently moved from Wisconsin to Missouri. Our new home includes quite a few acres and lots of farm animals. And while the cute little calves and colts don't come into the house, the smell sure does.
After a day of innoculating our new babies, my husband and I didn't exactly smell like roses. To make a long story short, we downright stank. After mega showers, we were clean, but the cowsmell had now transferred to the laundry room.
I brought out my regular air freshener, sprayed it and after about five minutes my laundry room now smelled like stale air freshener and cow.
My husbands grandmother, who lives with us handed me a bottle of febreze Air effects. Apparently she has been farming a lot longer than we are and knows what works.
I sprayed the Air Effects and within a minute or so the laundry room smelled clean and fresh. AND IT STAYED THAT WAY!!! I did go back every few minutes at first to check, but once you spray this stuff it just keeps on working.
Febreze products have been a favorite of mine for quite a long time. Since we cater to a variety of animals and a chain-smoking father-in-law, I had to have something that will keep the air in my house clean and fresh.
Febreze Air effects "eliminates odors and freshens the air"
It is listed as an "Air refresher" not "Air freshener". The can contains 9.7 ounces of sprayable liquid. This liquid is distributed by squeezing a trigger on top of the can while moving it from side to side in a sweeping motion.
Febreze does not contain CFCs, or phosphates. The ingredients listed are: Odor eliminator(it is not specified what that is), water, fragrance, non-flammable natural propellant and quality control ingredients (also not specified).
This product comes in a variety of scents. I picked "meadows and rain" because I found it to be light and smelling good without being overpowering. I have not yet tried another scent.
It is usually enough to give two to three good squirts to get a room smelling fresh. Once sprayed the effect will last several hours depending on the size of the room. The odors might come back, but not nearly as strong and several more sprays should eliminate them altogether.
I have found very few negatives about this product. The price ($2.99) is really not one of them, since I found this product lasts longer than others of the same size.
I have also not found any discoloration if I spray this directly onto furniture, so I think it's color safe, but best to try on an inconspicous (sp?) spot if you are not sure.
If you have pets with sensitive skin make sure you do not spray the product directly on anything they come in contact with. After spraying the dogs pillow (yes, she has her own little bed...) she started scratching her skin quite often. I washed the pillow and stopped spraying it directly and now even the dog is pleased.
One minor disadvantage is if you walk directly under the area you just sprayed. This is not a superfine mist like other products, but kind of like very fine raindrops. And what goes up must (and will) come down. So if you spray and walk under where you sprayed it will come down on you. This is more annoying than dangerous and if you watch where you're walking you should be okay.
The warning label on the can states that some hard surfaces can become damp after spraying and that intentional misuse (such as inhalation) of this product should be avoided. It also warns against spraying it directly towards any person and to rinse eyes with water if some product accidentally gets into your eyes.
I think this is another great product from Febreze and I will continue using it.
