| jdhauer's Full Review: Tupperware 6-Piece Classic Sheer Midgets Set |
The Tupperware Sheer Midgets Set is about the most useful product you can buy from Tupperware. The various things you can do with these containers are countless.
The first thing you need to know is a little more about the Classic Sheer Midget Set. Epinions lists this set as having six pieces. That's somewhat true. In the real world, this set has six containers. In pots & pans housewares world, this set would be marketed as having twelve pieces since there are six containers and six seals adding up to a total of twelve pieces.
The containers come in "Classic Sheer" which means they are see through instead of opaque. You can definitely see what's inside so there are no surprises.
The usual seal sold with these containers comes in Lacquer Blue. Depending on the special, Tupperware often packages Classic Sheer Midgets as part of hostess gifts or purchase with purchase incentives. In those cases, you can often acquire Classic Sheer Midgets with different colored seals. I have some with Black, Grapefruit and Ocean Blue seals, for example.
The seals on the Classic Sheer Midgets seem to fit more tightly than other Tupperware seals. Sometimes you really have to work to get them on the container but thankfully they are much easier to simply peel off when opening the container. I like the fact that the seals fit tightly because it means that I have more flexibility in determining how to use the product.
Each container has a capacity of 2 ounces. There are slight grooves on the container which mark off 1 ounce, 1.5 ounces, 30 milliliters, 45 milliliters and 60 milliliters. This makes it very easy to measure more than one ingredient (within reason) into a Classic Sheer Midget.
So how can they be used? The possibilities are endless!
I like using the Classic Sheer Midgets to count out my medications since I don't have a fancy schmanzy pill box. I'm really too young to have one of those yet but I've been fighting off a horrible case of pneumonia. My doctor wanted to hospitalize me but I have too many things that I need to do on a daily basis that have to be done such as ferrying my daughter between school and therapy and everywhere else she needs to be. There's no one else to step in for me. So, at night before I go to bed, I lay out the next day's medication in two Classic Sheer Midgets. My morning pills are in one and my evening pills are in another. I'm currently taking six pills in the morning and four pills in the evening.
When we travel, I use Tupperware Classic Sheer Midgets to hold our daily vitamins. Some people use them for shampoo but I usually stay in hotels that provide complementary toiletries so I've never done that.
One of my daughter's occupational therapy goals this fall was to learn to drink from an open cup. She mastered drinking from an open cup with a straw before she turned two but was having a little trouble without the straw. Her first cup that we used in teaching her this skill was a Classic Sheer Midget. Once she mastered drinking from the Classic Sheer Midget, she moved on to a regular Dixie Cup and then to a Tupperware Bell Tumbler which she uses at school. From there, she'll move on to the Tupperware Impressions Tumbler Set.
I do a lot of baking and my current project involves close to four dozen different types of cookies. Those cookies need to be decorated. I have many different colors of decorating sugars but sometimes I want to use both yellow and red instead of one or the other. I put some of each color into a Classic Sheer Midget, attach the lid and shake. I get perfectly mixed decorating sugars every time and a convenient way to store any leftovers.
If you're watching your weight, Classic Sheer Midgets are extremely useful, particularly in regard to salad dressing. Most people glop on dressing and really overuse it. I like to make my own dressings using the Tupperware Quick Shake Container and then pour some into a Classic Sheer Midget. With the Classic Sheer Midget, you know exactly how much dressing you are using. It's great for portion control.
I also like to cross stitch and just recently finished a birth sampler when our good friends Steve and Sandy had a baby. The sampler used tiny Mill Hill glass beads. I opened each package as I needed it and emptied it into a Classic Sheer Midget. I'd take a few of the beads and place them on the lid which was right side up. There's a rim around the edge of the seal so the beads wouldn't roll off and it was easy for me to thread them on my needle. When I was finished, I'd simply pour the beads from the Classic Sheer Midget back into the original packaging. I could have stored them in the Classic Sheer Midget but I only have a couple dozen of them!
Speaking of owning a couple dozen Classic Sheer Midget containers, you might think that takes up a lot of shelf or drawer space. That's not the case because the containers easily stack within one another with the seals removed.
Of course, there are multiple uses for these container throughout the home. Just be creative and look around your house! I guarantee you that you'll find them.
Other specifications
The Tupperware Classic Sheer Midgets Set is dishwasher safe but the pieces are very small. I'd suggest either placing them in a dishwasher basket such as those sold for baby bottle pieces or washing them by hand.
It is covered by Tupperware full lifetime warranty against chipping, cracking, breaking and peeling. What this means is that if any of the above occurs within reason, you get a replacement at no cost if you are placing an order (or your consultant is able to add it on someone else's order). Otherwise, there is a small shipping and handling fee.
Should you need a replacement, the mold numbers are as follows:
101 - Classic Sheer Midget Container
201 - Classic Sheer Midget Seal
I'm a former Tupperware consultant and during my time selling Tupperware, I never had to warranty a Tupperware Classic Sheer Midgets Set nor any part of this set. That's saying a lot because these are very popular sellers!
Where to Buy
The Tupperware Classic Sheer Midgets Set is available for purchase through Tupperware's website at www.tupperware.com and through Tupperware mall showcase kiosks.
My personal recommendation would be to contact a consultant through the Tupperware webpage. A consultant can give you better prices than the website and mall kiosks.
