ABT Electronics had good prices and fast shipping

Our six year old VCR croaked and I was searching for a combo VCR and DVD to replace it. I used a few search engines and found a model I liked. ABT Electronics Store online had the best price. Additionally, they did not charge me for shipping and because they are located out of state, I didn't pay any sales tax.
MERCHANDISE
It looks like all kinds of electronics with most of the major brands represented. There are quite a few kitchen machines too.
THE WEB SITE
The web site is low on graphics and is not very pretty. However, it is functional and loaded quickly.
PLACING AN ORDER
Placing an order was very easy. I particularly liked that I could estimate my shipping costs on the first page of checkout. I only had to enter my information once. Additionally, there was a box I could check to opt in to getting email advertisements from the store. I liked the fact that I could opt in and didn't have to take any active measures to opt out. I also didn't have to choose a password which was a welcome change from many other web sites. Overall, this was one of the easiest sites to order merchandise from.
STEALS AND DEALS
I got a 1% rebate at Ebates. I searched the internet for coupons and there were quite a few out there. I didn't sign up for emails from this store so I don't know if that is a source of discounts.
SHIPPING
The email that acknowledged my order stated that things leave the warehouse in 1-24 hours after you place an order and that my item should arrive in 3-5 business days. I placed my order on Sunday afternoon. I got an email that my item shipped Monday afternoon. My item arrived on Thursday - pretty speedy and right on time.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
I got an email acknowledging my order and another email when my item shipped.
PACKAGING
I ordered a combo VCR and DVD player. I would expect that it would have a lot of cushioning to protect it during shipping since it could easily break if dropped. The VCR / DVD was in the manufacturer's box, wrapped in those plastic air pillows inside another box. It was padded fairly well and survived the trip fine. Still, I would have liked to see a little more cushioning. If I had to make a return, I could have easily reused the shipping materials.
RETURNS
I didn't return my product and can't comment on this process. The customer service portion of the web site does a good job of explaining the return process. There is a lot of fine print and depending on what you buy, the return policy varies. Be sure to read up before you buy.
FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I had a good experience with this store. I got the item I wanted at a very good price quickly. I would definitely shop here again.
