| Adam_Comtois's Full Review: 2002 GMC Sierra C1500 Extended Cab |
A few years back, my dad was looking to buy a new pickup truck. He has owned pickup trucks ever since I can remember. He works as a mechanic so a pickup truck is essential. He's had more than a few trucks in his lifetime. He's had Ford's and Chevy's and other domestic trucks, but he's never really owned an Import pickup truck. The truck he owned before this one was a Chevy 1500 series with a standard cab and an 8 foot bed.
This time he decided he wanted to get a GMC which was a step up from his Chevy. He decided he wanted to stick with the 1500 series but this time he wanted an extended cab because he wanted more space. He ended up getting a 2002 GMC C1500 with an extended cab. Since he got the extended cab he sacrificed the 8 foot bed and got a 6 footer. Before he bought this vehicle my entire family went for a test drive and this was by far the smoothest truck Id ever ridden in. It felt like we were in a Cadillac because it was so smooth.
The truck came with a 5.3 Litre V8 engine that puts out around 285 horsepower which has proven to be very powerful and potent. This truck has been perfect for my dad and my family. Since getting the truck a few years ago Ive had the chance to drive it many times and I still agree that it is the smoothest truck Ive ever driven or ridden in. It has more than enough power with the V8 engine whether your towing a trailer or just cruising down the interstate. I thought the 6 foot bed would be too short for what my dad needed but so far we haven't come into any problems with the shorter bed. It is still big enough to carry anything from a dirt bike to a motorcycle to a snow blower. This truck has more than enough power if you need to use it to plow snow. I really like the change that was made from the old trucks to the new. Instead of having a lever on the floor to switch from 2WD to 4WD, there is a small button on the left of the steering wheel that switches it in a matter of seconds. The stereo system in the truck is spectacular. It has great sound. It even has a neat feature that automatically increases the volume as you increase your speed.
The only downfall to this truck is fact that it is a bit of a gas guzzler. Due to the fact that it has a large V8 engine in it, it only gets about 16 mpg. Even still I feel this truck was well worth it. So far my dad hasn't had any problems with the truck besides a rattling noise in the right door that got a little annoying, but that was fixed under the factory warranty.
It comfortably fits a family of four and allows enough room to move around and stow your belongings if taken on a trip.
Overall this is a great truck and was well worth the cost.
