Disney Magic Music Days AKA :Once Upon A DreamJun 13 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line This is a great way for choir groups, bands, and other performing groups can afford to go to WDW and perform. What could be more amazing than to perform at Walt Disney World? Bands choirs, orchestras, dance ensembles, and drill teams all have the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in Walt Disney World. The program is called Magic Music Days and the first step is to audition. (I will explain each of the steps individually later in the review.) Then request a Disney Magic Music Days Package. The last step is when you arrive to WDW. Your group has a number of workshops that they can opt to attend. Note: It is not a requirement of Magic Music Days to attend a workshop, but it can be helpful as well as fun for your group. More about the workshops later in the review. The audition is the first step listed in the Magic Music Days information. But in all actuality, the first step is deciding if your group can do this. Set up a fund raising plan/ or decide if each individual who attends will personally fund it. One of the requirements of the audition is to have a picture of the group in costume. Therefore if you’re considering booking a trip like this, you need to be mindful of the time involved in preparing for this. It is imperative to get the uniforms for your entire group as early as possible. Another part of the audition is to make and send a video of two selections that is comparative with your group’s style. In dealing with someone who organizes these events, I was informed that for the most part, most groups who audition are accepted into the program. You must send your audition info in at least two months prior to the date that you intend to make the trip. Note: The request for the Disney Magic Music Days package for your group should be made at least six weeks in advance. There is no need to pay in advance, but rather wait till you arrive at WDW to decide which packages are best to suit your group’s need. The groups have a choice of staying off sight as well as onsite. There is no discount for room accommodations, but the Theme Park passes which is part of the Prem Ear package saves dollars for the group. Disney wants to make this a trip that is economically obtainable for all students. Our group chose to stay at the All Stars Music. All Star rooms hold a total of four students. To figure the price of the accommodations just divide the price the room by four. Depending what season that you choose to go, the cost to each student would be less than $20 a night. Part of the PremEar packages includes a bonus admittance to either Disney Quest or one of the Disney Water Parks. They also have meal tickets that is optional which can give you a reasonably close figure to go by when you figure that actual cost of this program. Also available at an additional charge are workshops for the groups. The minimum ages for these are 11 years and up. The workshops are helpful to your group to add a touch of Disney to the performance. They can get tips and techniques to improve your performance. Some of the workshops are geared toward different targeted groups, such as Show Choir, which focuses on the fundamentals of vocal technique and the basics of staged movement. (Minimum of 25 participants) Jazz groups examine phrasing improvisation, ensemble sound, jazz styles, and the rhythm section. It is for middle and high school students. (Minimum of 18 participants) Instrumental concert bands gets to go to a recording studio and are given the unique chance to record their own soundtrack to a portion of a Disney animated feature. Students ages 11 and up (Minimum of 40 participants) Choirs focuses on singing styles, interpretation, and vocal dynamics. A Disney vocalist and recording artist also demonstrates how movement can impact song and ways vocal warm-ups enhance performance. Students ages 11 and up. (Minimum of 30 participants) For Dance studios, dance teams, show choirs, drill teams, and color guards, the workshop emphasizes the importance of discipline, show presentation, and movement. Participants put this insight into action as they learn an actual Disney production number for a backstage performance. Students ages 11 and up. (Minimum of 20 participants) The price for a PremEar package which includes a five day theme park pass A bonus entry to Disney Quest or a Disney water park A Disney Magic Music Day tee shirt Is $170 for students 10 and older. Each group’s leader and assistance package is included, and for every five student packages, a chaperone can pay the student’s cost. The fun part of this is when your group actually gets to perform in the World. Where your group performs depends on both the type of group and the style of the performance. Example is, the location where many Drill Teams perform is at Walt Disney’s World of Sports. Downtown Disney is where some choir groups perform as well as a couple of locations inside Magic Kingdom. So if you have a child who is in one of these types of performing groups, encourage and help your director to plan a trip. This would truly be a once in a lifetime performance for your child.
