Pros: Good equipment
Plenty of cardio machines
Clean
Cons: Rules not handed out
High handed treatment of customers
Not a warm, friendly atmosphere
The Bottom Line: Violating the rules of Planet Fitness can result in removal from the club. Ask for the rules. The club should not be arbitrary and capricious in their application.

| gymguy's Full Review: Planet Fitness |
This pertains to my experience at the Planet Fitness facility located at 475 Albany Shaker Road in Loudonville, NY. There may be other fitness locations to which this critique does not apply; however, this has been a disappointment to say the least. Let me paint the picture, at 68 years of age, corporate executive of two organizations and have visited and enjoyed gyms all over the United States. I am respectful of the people and the equipment. Just recently I have been verbally accosted by the manager of this facility who complained that I had in some way abused the Smith machine I was using (how this is possible is beyond me)and making too much noise in the use of the machine. When I sought to defend myself by denying his accusations (by the way this organization uses the phrase JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE-which is ironic)he went into phase II which was to accuse me of having an attitude. When I stated that he was the one with the attitude and asked for a return of my membership fees, he switched to Phase III-Your membership is cancelled and if you do not leave the property now, I will have the police escort you off the property! He backed down on this threat and graciously let me off with a FINAL WARNING!
I bring this up to illustrate that with any facility/club that you join, be sure you know the rules. This Planet Fitness seems to make them up as they go along. When I joined, I was not supplied with the organizations rule's of behavior. There is no positing that says if you have a mishap on one rep on the Smith Machine that your out. There is no posting that indicates that some one can be summarily dismissed and their dues confiscated by the club for "having an attitude." Only one person's voice counts--their voice--and the customer is always wrong. Join Planet Fitness with your eyes open and know what you are getting into.
