Discount Inkjet Cartridges That WORK!
Jun 15 '01
The Bottom Line Regardless of what inkjet you choose, don't get roped into paying for an OEM cartridge!
I finally figured out how printer companies can make money selling color inkjet printers for $79...The answer is in the replacement ink cartridges that cost an arm and a leg!!
My wife purchased an Epson Stylus 740 about a year ago to go with her new iMac. The printer is great and the color quality rivals laser printers I've used at my office when you select the appropriate resolution and use quality paper.
Recently, I began shooting a lot of digital images and printing them on photo paper and I discovered that one color ink cartridge is good for about 4 to 6 8x10 photos at high quality. This is not good news when your local office supply depot gets $27 to $30 for a color cartridge.
I immediately started to look for alternatives. I had no desire to use a modified hypodermic needle to "refill" old cartridges, and I tried a "refurbished" cartridge at the office supply store that sold for $20. This was a piece of garbage. The prints looked horrible, so I promptly returned it and set ended up paying full price for an Epson brand cartridge. Chagrinned, I set out to determine where I could obtain a non-Epson replacement cartridge that would allow me to print quality photographs.
I post actively in the rec.photo.digital newsgroup on the Usenet, and a lot of other folks had similar concerns. One place that was recommended was www.wholesaleprintersupply.com. I navigated to their site, entered my printer type, and hit "Search." What I was looking at was too good to be true. The black cartridge was $9.95 and the color was $12.95. I ordered one of each.
Imagine my surprise when I learned that these cartridges were buy one get one free!! That's right, I got 4 cartridges (2 color, 2 black) for $23 + $4 UPS Ground shipping. That was less than the price of a single cartridge at the office store.
I figured they'd arrive within the week, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. The prices seemed just too good to be true!
Another surprise. I got home from work the next day and the cartridges were waiting for me.
I anxiously ran upstairs and installed one, called up a photo I really like, and printed it.
In a word: AMAZING!
There is no difference between these fine cartridges and an OEM cartridge. And I got 4 of them for the price of 1.
Check them out and you won't be sorry! Printer companies know that 9 out of 10 people will return to a retail store and buy their overpriced cartridges. That is how they keep the printer costs down while tying us into a permanent relationship with their cartridges.
Be the 1 person out of 10 who won't be gouged at the retail stores and give www.wholesaleprintersupply.com a shot.
