Another excellent bit of advice here. Since my baby is going off to college on October 8, I am going to link this review to him. It is scary (for me) that he is going to be so far away but it is his dream so I have to support him. He won't be living in a dorm but will be in a campus apartment complex with one roommate. There are no frats at his college. I am trying to encourage him to find a church with a good youth group to join.
Oh I hope he can avoid the back stabbing and sneakiness that you talk about. That can be so hurtful.
Great advice Z. You should be very proud of yourself that you have stood firm through all of the hardships and finishing up. Congrats to you.

I spent a few years at a JC, but I was still living with my parents. So it still felt like high school, no independence.
But then I hit Cal Poly SLO, 240 miles away from home and FREEDOM. I gotta admit, you really do discover who you are and what you like when you're by yourself. I lived off-campus, so I didn't experience the dorm life. I did join a Filipino club and a few engineering clubs though, but no sororities. And I even met my future husband there.
Good tips and well written.

Hey zhouse, well...I just completed my freshman year at college and I definitely had the time of my life there. Three more years to go man!! Anyway, thanks for the pratical advice. And yes, you are right about many college students with a penchant for cheating and "circumventing the rules" in order to maintain good grades. I don't do it, but there are students I know who brag about cheating.
Congrats on making it through your four years in college. I wish you the best in life.
