Gosh, here I thought that for a novice it might be an okay machine. Guess I was wrong there too huh? Thanks for the enlightenment.

Modem troubles answer - yes it costs more money. (Reply to this comment)

We had modem troubles with one of our Packard Bell machines. The phone lines in our neighborhood were old, therefore needing a more powerful modem. We bought an exterior modem which is easy to install on any machine. I am not super techy, but this is my help for you.
As for E machines, I have one and have other problems such as the machine not turning off unless you unplug it. Otherwise it works great. Except that it came with a DVD drive which does not work with some game CD's like they said it would at the store.
I think Best Buy is still a great place to buy many items.
