He repeatedly fails exams, has never had a serious relationship in his life, has a collection of photographs of twentieth-century telegraph poles (and cannot understand why nobody ever wants to see themā¦), and likes elevator music.
wow! replace the "he" and "his" with "she" and "her" and you've got a perfect description of me!
oh, and awesome review! :)

Cat on a hot red dwarf (Reply to this comment)

The few times I've been able to catch this show here, I've loved it. Would be great to have this set and see it all.
though some would say he doesnt really meet the criteria for a human being
Ha! I can think of a few people like that.
and likes elevator music. (See I even used an Americanism! Im so good to you
)
Nice to see you expanding your horizons. You're so considerate.
Id hardly describe myself as normal!
Not exactly the first word that comes to mind when thinking of you.
It's great to see the string of MH's there, I'd certainly award one if I could.
I need to read Hitchhiker again before the film comes out this year.
Still, I hope that a certain resonance of the quality of these two comedy sci-fi legends manages to shine through in my own writing.
I believe it does. Speaking of Captain Disaster, how's the new edition coming along?

Ah, mucho gracias amigo! If you haven't read the books, inthelilypond's write-off will motivate you. This show sounds side-splitting since I enjoy British humor, except much passes over me. So is the vindaloo monster made of hot curry??? I'm trying to picture this....;-)

It used to be on BBC America, but it isn't anymomre. I really loved it. My next favorite show on BBC is Couplings. I love that show, too. I'm glad you wrote this. I will have to look them up.

Hey Caroline!
Er... new edition's coming... not at all, at the moment. I've parted company with Lulu and am considering using iuniverse, but right now I'm concentrating more on trying to start a business up with my other half. (Putting food on the table is more important than creativity at the moment!!)

Hey babe,
As your North American agent, I must insist on being told these things sooner.
What kind of new business? Shoot me an e-mail sometime and tell me all about it (if you can.) If there's anything I can do to help, just say the word.

Smegginlgy good stuff (Reply to this comment)

Great review Capt,
A worthy tribute to a British comic classic. I had a number of wry chuckles to myself when reading over the episode descriptions again, ah.. the memories!
'Switch to red alert'
'Are you really sure, it'll mean changing the bulb?'
And the Vindaloo Monster, the stuff of school playground legend.
Thanks again for championing the cause of British comedy to the wider universe.

"Thanks again for championing the cause of British comedy to the wider universe" - ah, but of course! What greater cause could there be to champion?!?!? :-D
