| keaonsmom's Full Review: General Reviews of SunCom Customer Service |
I have been a Suncom customer since September 2002. I switched to Suncom from Sprint because of how costly it was to be a Sprint customer, Suncom seemed to offer the best rate plan at the time (Unplan which included roaming minutes), and I had read that they ranked number 1 in customer service (which I found them to be the worst out of all the wireless companies I have ever dealt with).
The first phone I ever purchased was a Motorola V60 which had some major problems at first. The first phone I received had a technical problem that I can not seem to remember right now, but I immediately contacted the store where I purchased it from to find out that they were out of stock with the phones and that I had to wait until some more came in to get another one. Finally they got the phones in, but I was told that it was past the 30-day return period so that I would have to settle for a refurbished phone instead of a new one that I had just paid $295.72 for. This did not set well with me, and the store manager finally decided to give me a new phone with my old battery, and other accessories (Savannah, GA Hodgson Memorial Drive), but before I walked out of the door, it was discovered that the new phone did not work at all, was told that the battery just needed charging and that the phone should work after charging the battery completely. The phone never came on and I was finally given a new phone new with accessories that worked.
After having the Motorola for close to 2 years and with technology changing, I decided that I wanted a new phone. The Panasonic GU87 was my choice. I was a good phone, but I broke it oneday when I dropped it. I filed an insurance claim with The Signal, Suncom's insurance provider, and was sent a Panasonic X70 as the replacement phone. This was a big mistake. This phone rings when it wants, stop ringing when you make it (meaning if the phone rings and the caller hangs up, the phone still rings until you mash the end button), and vibrates until you take the battery off. I have been through approximately 4 X70's from The Signal, I have requested a new type phone, called Suncom, and went to my local Suncom store. Oneday I finally asked them can I get a downgrade and they said Suncom would have to notify them of what a downgrade is and this can take up to 72 hours. Suncom has it in there system that I have requested the downgrade, and it was sent to the escalations department, which can only be contacted by e-mail, and knows that it went to them 72 hours ago, but just has to sit back and wait for escalations to get back in touch with them.
My only request is to have a fashionable, reliable phone that works. In this case, Suncom customer service is lacking. I feel that there could be more done that have a good day. Hopefully we will here from them within an additional 48 business hours, not including the weekend hours.
My recommendation is that if you do decide to go Suncom. When you get a phone that works, hold on to it.
