Jack of All Trades, ADVISOR of None...But, I AM Okay.

The Bottom Line I highly recommend remaining true to yourself..be who you are, not who you think others want you to be.

Just over fourteen months ago I joined a wonderful writing site as a favor to my daughter, Mama2Tinka. She had been cashing in small checks for a period of time and was very enthusiastic about recruiting referrals for added income. I reluctantly joined, but fast became an epinions addict. Now, months later, my daughter practically never comes on to EPINIONS.com and I am still here.

What impressed me most about the old EPINIONS.com site was the community atmosphere. I immediately felt welcomed and began to do many of the important things that were suggested to me to develop an epinions personality. I read other writers’ reviews and began to rate with diligence. Before I knew it, I had quite a following of folks anxious to read what I had to write!! A most glorious feeling for any writer, indeed!

What was and continues to be of top notch importance to me is being honest and open as I share on a product or personal experience. That is how my epinions personality began, by putting my own personality into each piece that I write.

During my hayday at the old EPINIONS.com site, I actually became a MOST POPULAR reviewer in Web Services! Not only did this kudos prompt me to write more efficiently and produce more detailed reviews, but it kept me encouraged that I, too, could aspire to become an Expert, now known as an ADVISOR. The reviews poured forth from me in a consistent manner. I felt that many of them were well written and very helpful to the consumers seeking advice.

Editorials were a huge part of my epinions personality. I became well known for my thought-provoking and sometimes emotional essays regarding many facets of my life. My readership grew as I became a daily epinions writer, reviewer and rater. I could hardly wait till my turn came on the computer that I shared with my teenaged children, so that I could read, write, rate and share.

Well, as many others abandoned the old EPINIONS.com site shortly after the reconstruction in January, I too, went in search of other writing communities. There were many opportunities for me to return to the new and improved EPINIONS.com site, but my reluctance was great. I actually spent 90 days away!! Coming “home” was difficult with all of the changes on the site. But, for this writer, I was immediately welcomed back and I will take this opportunity to express my gratitude to those faithful readers who did not give up on me.

So, you may be wondering by now, what this editorial is really all about. I felt that it was time for me to express my feelings concerning the advisorship that continues to elude me. I have given this much thought and have concluded that some things just are not meant for everyone. I have accepted this fact and will continue to write quality reviews on products that I have actually used. I will churn out essays on personal life-effecting issues as the moods hit me. I will continue to read others’ great writing and try to encourage the newcomers by adding little comments of suggestion.

Will I continue to be an active member of this great community of our’s? YES I WILL! I will do this to the best of my ability because I feel that every community has its leaders and followers. I may never attain the “status” of ADVISOR in any one particular area, but I know in my heart that I am still a great writer and contributor to this site.

I have only been back a short time, and I can honestly say that it is tough sometimes keeping up with the ebb and flow of the EPINIONs.com tide. My life jacket is always on when I come into this site. I hope that I can continue to stay afloat here. My helping hand is always outstretched for anyone who may need it.

And I believe that there are those willing to reach back to help this member to stay encouraged.

My advice to the new or struggling reviewer is to just be yourself! Write honestly about how you felt about the products that you choose to review. Be consistent in the quality of your submissions and do not allow negativity to rule. Seek the advice of those who are succeeding here and have fun! Your personality will shine through and people will either love you or not. But, that's the same in all aspects of our lives.

In conclusion, I dare to raise a thought-provoking question. (All comments are welcome.) Couldn’t an advisorship be given to those prolific writers who dabble in several areas instead of sticking with one or two? Perhaps “ADVISOR in Life” or maybe “ADVISOR for All”.

Of course, I am being silly here, but, it was just a thought.
