As Father's day comes, I realize that I am quite honestly one of the luckiest people in the world to have with me 3 wonderful "guys". My father, my husband and our new 6 month son. I'm outnumbered! How did I get to be so lucky, blessed and honored? My husband is an awesome dad and I know that I take him for granted. This is his first father's day, and I want it to be special for him. My present to him this Father's day is to do my best not to (take him for granted). This is a promise. To Kurt: I think that Dad's-to-be could learn from you because... -You only laughed a couple times when I waddled, and you made me laugh with you. -You were the valedictorian of our LaMaze classes. And I think you paid more attention than I did. -After being 2 weeks overdue and in labor for an entire weekend you're enthusiasm for the baby's arrival made me forget just how bloated my ankles were. -You made me feel successful after my C-section, when I felt like a failure. -You can swaddle a baby better than my Mother! And you give the best baby baths! -Baby spit-up, poop, drool and everything else doesn't phase you. (anymore) You change diapers faster than a pit-stop at a NASCAR race. -You picked out the Bumper Jumper and convinced me that it would be safe and fun. You were right, because its your son's favorite pastime. -You enjoy spending time with your son, even if its watching MST3K or a cheesy movie on cable so that I can get some rest. -You are the Master of Assembly. You have put together every piece of baby furniture, toy, gear, etc at our house, and the grandparents houses. You don't blink an eye at the words, "Some Assembly Required". -You keep the baby electronic gear stocked with fresh batteries. Thank you Duracell! -You continue to capture some of the best moments digitally, including last week's self-feeding episode. (Nothing like Stage 1 sweet potatoes on the forehead!) For all these reasons above, Thank you!! Happy First Father's day!! to all Father's, especially first-time Dad's and Dad's-to Be! Thank you all!  |
