maxx19692004's Full Review: 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
We bought our jeep in 2003 for the 2004 model year and so far have put about 25k on it. Our model has the 4.7 ltr V-8, so this review will entail the details about that engine and the Limited model.
Handling- This jeep does very well, it handles great on the highway and city trafic as well, its always been very predictable at all speeds that we drive it at and gives a good sence of confidence. The 2004 also has larger disks on the brakes wich was a giant inprovment in the stopping ability.
Ride- confortable ride, the bumps are well buffered and the cabin is fairly quiet, you really dont have any idea about the 4wd capabilty untill your off road. ( I've noticed usually a 4 wd with this type on off-road ability will give a lousey ride, not in this case though)
reliability- We have had a few minor problems with the Jeep so far, power stering pump, and partial clogged injecters, but no major issues as of yet. As with all of our Jeeps present and past, we expect the minor repair bills but generaly there very long lasting and reliable.
Off-road and snow- This is were the Jeep beats the others hands down. Off roading is were this belongs. you have no idea your driving around in a 4000 pound suv when your not on a paved road. Its almost as if the car becomes lighter and more agile off roading. The only way your going to stop it is if you come across something it wont fit through width wise. She has done well through deep mud, snow, and the woods of northern wisconsin without us ever having to question of we were going to get stuck.
Towing- we have a 9 by 12 trailer that we load up wiht landcape items (bricks, dirt, trees,) The Jeeps engine and larger braking systems makes this a very compitent activity, no worries here even though we may be puling 2000 pounds along wiht us.
