We need credit or debit cardsJun 17 '01 Write an essay on this topic.The Bottom Line I never have to hear "Can I borrow a couple of bucks?" Having credit or debit cards are a great thing! Here are some of my thoughts on why we need them. See if you Think Like Mike. No need to carry money In one day I was able to buy breakfast, lunch, gas, groceries, rent a movie and buy something online all in one day by just using my debit card. Even though I had money in my wallet, it was much easier to just use my debit card instead. Just be sure you keep up with your bank account to know if you have all this money to spend or else you will find yourself in Overdraft Hell. No handouts Don't you just hate it when someone tries to bum a few bucks from you? Street people, co-workers, friends and family all do it and I hate it. There is no reason these days people need to bum a couple of bucks off anyone especially in this day and age where I think 95% of the people have debit cards from their banks and pretty much everyone accepts debit cards. The Government Effect Did you know that the government borrows money from a bank so you can have money in your wallet? Ever hear of a guy named Alan Greenspan? These people make and lend money to our own government and we pay them back interest on the money we borrow so we can have money. Think about this: If we went to a paperless society our own government would not need to borrow money, hence no interest to pay and our taxes would go down too. Lending rates would drop. People will have more money in their accounts because the government would not need to collect so much tax to pay down the interest. So I say to you, the consumer, use your debit card as much as possible. I believe that within the next ten years we will be a paperless economy where the only people needing hard cash are the ones that want to roll around in it.  |
