Ames Top 10 Animated Films Of All Time

The Bottom Line Whether you are looking for animation, music, or a wonderful story line, mine will bring you to the heavens and back while touching your soul all at the same time!
What makes an Animation movie so special? Is it the imagery, the beautiful strokes from the paint brush? Is it the music that tugs at your heart and opens your soul? Is it the voices that we know and love from other films? Or is it a story like no other that introduces us to a different look at the world and ourselves? The answers to these questions lie in my favorite 10 Animated Films of all time.
#10 The Secret of Nimh: A movie from my childhood, it has always stuck with me because of the imagery and the wonderful story line. Join Mrs Brisby, a small soft-spoken mouse, who saves her family and her animal community with the power of love.
#9 Anastasia: The story of a Russian Princess who gets seperated from her Grandmother and fights to find out who she is, for her past and her future. I loved this one simply because it not only had a great story line that hooked you right from the beginning, but the soundtrack is catchy, fun to sing to, and takes you away to dance in your dreams.
#8 Ferngully-The Last Rainforest: A powerful movie that explores why it is so important to save and preserve our world. It is also quite hilarious, featuring Robin Williams as the Bat, and will get you dancing in your living room!
#7 The Land Before Time: The original and all of the sequels have morals and lessons that deal with death, the bond of love, and the value of friendship. Join these adorable Dinosaurs, Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Spike and Petrie for adventures that will take you to a time when Dinosaurs roamed the earth.
#6 Charlotte's Web: another classic from my childhood, I wept tears of sadness and joy as a little pig deals with making friends and letting go.
#5 Beauty and the Beast: I felt this was a breakthrough film in the Animation world, as it took my breath away. The scene where Belle and the Beast are dancing, I could swear that ballroom was real. The storyline is sweet and it will show you the true meaning of loving someone for who they are, and not what they look like.
#4 Hunchback of Notre Dame: I have chosen this one because it was a step up from Beauty and the Beast, concerning the story plot and animation. The way the candles glowed in the Sanctuary, and how the sun fell upon the Cathedral windows, casting the most beautiful colors onto the church floor. I was in complete awe, and if that wasn't enough, the story tugged at my heart as one small and meek child touched Quasimodo's face- get chills even now thinking about it. I HIGHLY recommend this soundtrack as well!
#3The Prince of Egypt: The Biblical tale of Moses and his journey from child to man, told through smooth animation. My family and I saw this in the Theatre and it brought me to tears at how the slaves were treated. I felt like I was right there, having to make those tough decisions, and the entire time feeling so much of God's love while I watched. It was not a movie, it wasn an experience, and EVERYONE should take part in seeing it!
#2 An American Tail: The journey of Fievel the mouse, who gets parted from his family on their journey to America. I saw this one as a child also, and I fell in love with it. I have watched this more than I can remember, and I have sung "Somewhere out There" to both of my children as lullabies. Directed by Steven Speilberg himself, this is a must-see for all ages!
#1 Peter Pan: This is my favorite animated film of all times because it creates such an incredible atmosphere for imagination that you get caught up in it like a child. I would dream of flying to Never Never Land with Peter and Tinkerbell, meeting the Lost Boys, and swimming with the Mermaids in the lagoon. This is exactly why I love the Peter Pan ride at both Disney Parks, because it brings my favorite movie alive and I get to be a part of it, even if it is only for a few minutes.
Thanks for taking the time to read my list, and I hope you get the chance to see some of the films I have learned to grow and love.
