The moment I saw that title, I thought "Ahh, please tell me Beauty and the Beast made it." And there it was! Beauty and the Beast is probably my favorite of all the Disney films ever made. When he gets the bird to eat out of his hands, I get all teary-eyed. The whole film is positively amazing.

I enjoyed reading your favorites and thank you for stirring up a lot of old memories for me.
THE SECRET OF NIMJH (sp?) has always been high on my list. I played it for my grandkids, loving it as much as they did. One grandson could go word for word with the movie.
AN AMERICAN TALE - I discovered this one in the local library and it was great. Also, the others in the FIEVEL series.
Enjoyed reading your review. It was great.

Ah, I see. This was my first reply on this site. I believe I had clicked on a link that said "The Best Animated Films of All Time." Did not realize there were many lists on this topic.
I'll have to provide my own list, then (at the top: Allegro Non Troppo)

Thanks for leaving such a lengthy comment:) Although they may not be what YOU consider the best, they are to me, and that is why I titled it the way I did. They are MY opninion, and I tend to disagree, I have found many men who have enjoyed Hunchback, Beauty and the Beast, American Tail AND the Prince of Egypt. We will agree to disagree- thanks for stopping by:)

Ah, feminine American youth (Reply to this comment)

This is a very fine list of animated films, if it didn't attempt to define "the 10 best animated films of all time."
Amy's list is composed of recent feel-good American films, so you won't see amime (Grave of the Fireflies, Akira, Princess Mononoke) represented, nor twisted visions (South Park, Fritz the Cat) for that matter.
Peter Pan is the only film on the list that predates the Reagan administration and just two others are pre-1990, leaving Pan as the only representative of the Classic Disney era of animation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Fantasia, etc.
Since the reviewer's childhood memories evoke such films as The Land Before Time, there are no films from the 60s such as 101 Dalmations and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the originals), Yellow Submarine, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Horton Hears a Who, etc.
And, yes, "adorable," "touching your soul," "tugs at your heart" films are admirable, if one is looking for cute or romantic, but I would say most males are not quite in that camp.
I'd recommend Amy's list to young ladies and parents of younger children. As she says, these are her favorites. But top 10 of all time?

good review. All those movies fit pretty close to where I'd put them. But where's the almighty Aladdin? Anyhow, good job.
