All Magazines have a purpose (Reply to this comment)

Contemporary Bride magazine is used for local planning. Pictures are very pretty, but don't plan your wedding. When you need to find a reception hall, florist, photogrpaher, limo, etc, you will need a local magazine like Contemporary Bride. Instead of the fuffy articles, like some magazines have, their focus is on thier wedding planner. They have planners for each aspect of your wedding, not just the gown. The national magazines are for the gowns and not for local planning. You don't find local resources in a national magazine which is why the focus on gowns. In my opinion, use the other magazines to rip out the pretty pictures you find and then use Contemporary Bride to actually plan your wedding. I did!

My point exactly, AJ. How can it be called Contemporary Bride when it just contains ads? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Hmmmmmmm... (Reply to this comment)

...sounds as if the editors of this publication have come up with a clever concept:
Get people to take out ads to put together and make a magazine, and get other people to buy the magazine.
I think what you did was end up purchasing part of a telephone directory!
Nothing wrong with their concept--except they should have represented it better on their front cover with either a title that tells what you're getting for your almost five bucks or else with a subtitle.
It seems to me that, at that price (unless they're giving their clients a real steal), they could afford to also put in a comment section where people could review places they've checked out.
Perhaps, just a small selection of the comments with a URL leading to an online forum where people could leave comments.
That is, if some business is advertised therein, part of the deal would be having its name made into a live link that would lead to a comment section about the same.
And the online supplement would only be available to subscribers and last for so long as their subscription lasts--except, as you said, there IS no subscription option.
Perhaps, there should be.
People buying this off the shelf would have no access to the online supplement!
Hey! I have a better idea altogether:
Magazine should become online and by subscription with various options re: length of subscription.
Meanwhile, this little ad book should be selling for a lot less (such as one or two dollars--which is doable, considering that the ads surely make up for a lot of the cost, even when there's a middleman such as a store that's selling it).
I can't remember now, but I believe my mom is having her surgery on the day you're getting married.
It's happening sometime between April 9 and April 12.
It's minor surgery (to fix some weak muscles), but please keep her in your prayers.
I bet you're getting more excited by the day!!!
Hugs!
