| thej0ker's Full Review: Dell UltraSharp 1905FP (Gray) 19" LCD Monitor |
Introduction:
When I got hired on to my new job, they promised me that when I started that I would have a dual 19 Dell monitor setup. As my boss showed me my new office and system on the first day, boy was I disappointed to see drab beige 15 plat panel sitting there. Apparently my companys ordering process is the pits. After about three months, my beautiful Dell 1905FPs showed up. These babiess sure are sweet.
Display:
The greatest thing about the 1905FP (in my humble opinion) is that I can finally bump my resolution up to 1280x1024 without having to squint. The extra screen space from having the 19 viewable area is heaven. (Having two of these babies is almost too much joy to handle). Because these monitors belong to my company I havent been able to extensively test the quality of the display beyond business applications. Apparently some companies frown on using company resources for entertainment. I have run a couple of video files on the 1905FP and have been really impressed. The colors are very bright and most of the content I look at looks great. I would say that the display on the 1905FP is better than the older 17 CRTs that I have at home.
Physical Construction:
The first thing that I noticed as I was taking the monitors out of the box was the high quality feel of their stands. The monitor sits on a stand that swivels, tilts and pivots to satisfy the most demanding of users. Another nice feature is the USB connectivity on these monitors. The monitor comes with four USB connections. Two of the connections are placed next to the power and video connections on the backside of the monitor. The other two are placed conveniently on the left hand side of the monitor, extremely useful for flash drives. I know that some might not care but the 1905FP looks really good on a desk. The Dell gray and the cool looking stand really make you feel like have some high quality equipment (Id say theyd better too for the amount of money that my company paid for these).
