The Bottom Line An actual girl's tribute~* to the whole "Girlfriend Write-Off" thing started by ericgreene, officer, pez, and the rest of the gang.
Since the dawn of time, man has sought to blah blah blah blah! Enough. Man seeks woman. Woman seeks man. Yet somehow, millions across the globe have lost all hope in finding true happiness through strong, meaningful intimate relationships. Now, guys, i loved the editorials. If you haven't read any of the infamous "Girlfriend Write-Off" series, search it and allow your eyes to feast upon the rare subject of male feelings, emotions, needs, philosophies, and sometimes just carnal fantasies. (mmm...girl must be cute. not too big. blonde is nice, etc etc etc) (love this stuff) now, reading through their work only harvested my cravings to publicize some similar thoughts...from a girl's perspective. Some trivial background info [easily skipable] : I am an 18 year-old female living in texas, although i will shortly be transferring up to college in Ohio this fall. For the past year and a 1/2, I have had the pleasure of working mindlessly at a Software Store. [ah, the obsession with video games begins] Meeting my best friend Hitomi many years ago also sparked a similar interest in Anime, and various things of the Japanese culture. [If you've ever put down the pringles in favor of a spicy seaweed snack, you would understand.] Now, the Boyfriend Files: No, this isn't the section where I rant and rave about past injustices [waa waa waa!...and with my best friend too!...blah blah...can you believe he didn't call? etc] No, this is the section where I try to figure out what's going on inside my own little head while hopefully enlightening [or at least entertaining] yours. 1. He must be Optimistic. ["WHAT? THIS IS NUMBER ONE?!" you say? yes, i shall explain.] Forever the optimist[(not flaky, see: positive thinker] I somehow allowed myself to be caught in the deadly relationship spiderweb of "the creepy goth guy." "Now, hold up a sec!" you say. Am i being fair? Yes. Relationships are equal parts giving and taking. Understanding this, i made numerous sacrifices to make gothguy happy. after six months, i ended it realizing to my horror...gothguy hadn't made any. sad. 2. He must make me laugh, AND vise-versa. I met a guy shortly after gothguy, who finally lifted my darkened spirits. He was funny, positive, and always ready with a quick joke to make me laugh and smile. Now, how was i to know that it was really important to him that he make everybody laugh, ALL of the time. My jokes, witty comments, humorous anecdotes, were all either interrupted, or shot down with nasty remarks: "oh gaaawd that was so lame!" "What ARE you talking about?" "Right, she thinks she's being funny!" ok funnyman, you can have the spotlight to yourself. 3. Tall, dark, dashingly handsome... ok, just kidding. My gosh, do guys think all women want in a guy is looks? I am NOT bad looking. 5'5", blonde with green eyes, pale skin, and a nice curvy figure. notice i didn't say fat, chubby, overweight, etc; word to all guys, "curvy" does not mean "ugly, chunky, spillin out all ova da' place!" If i was hideously overweight, I'd say "hi, i'm 947 thousand pounds. Hope ya like somethin to hold on to!" "curvy" means curvy. i'm not skinny. i'm about average but not blocky. few men appreciate the beautiful curves of a woman's body. sigh... [personal reflective moment] now, as an attractive female, what do i look for in a man? see: number 1 and number 2. 110 pounds, bald, with a lazy eye? ok 350 pounds, sweaty, with one leg? sure 2 feet tall, 96 yrs old and...ok, let's be serious! lol the only thing a relationship needs to start out is chemistry. that certain feeling that both people get after just one or two meetings. After you walk away, and think, "Gosh, he was cool. I'd really like to talk to him some more..." When...when the conversation is over, but you want to start another one right back up because you're so interested just to hear what they have to say. And then maybe, when you find yourself doing something important to you, whether it be painting, writing a song, going to a museum, drawing a picture of satan and his evil spawn, WHATEVER, when all you can think when you're doing it is, "gosh, I wish they were here so i could share this with them..." THEN you have a little something. Relationships are about sharing who you are with another person, and by doing so, you do open up the chance to get hurt. You sure will too, time and time again! But hey, that's just the chance you have to take right? What keeps a relationship lasting? I don't know...If I did, maybe i'd still be with gothguy or funnyman. But i sure wouldn't be happy. ;)  |
