I can relate to your experience in college. I did essentially the same thing, albeit many years before you did. I am now a successful 39 year old man, happily married with two wonderful children and a great career. You have a lot of wisdom in your words. I see great things ahead for you.

I went to JC for a few years before I transferred to Cal Poly SLO. The 2nd quarter I was there, I withdrew due to family problems. But the next quarter I came back with a new attitude and learned from my mistakes.

In 3 years I finished and got my bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (with an emphasis in Power). Even with all the partying I did, I was able to do well and get involved with extracurricular activities.

Remember the school motto, "Learn by doing". I certainly did! I won't wish you luck, because that's not what it takes. It takes a lot of work for most people. But I knew a few who were barely able to slide by but they landed some pretty good careers afterwards.

I had a similar experience when I was in college in the 60's. You are absolutely right. In my case it was the best thing I ever learned.
