The Bottom Line There are a few problems on this website that hopefully will be fixed, but overall it is a great site that helps people make decisions.
FALSE RATINGS Epinions.com as we all know is a good website. I always go to it before I am buying something to see what other people have to say about it. The website does a good job, however, some people on it do not. Many people are not honest and they rate bad epinions as "very helpful" which I don't think it's far. I think epinions that get ratings of very helpful are ones that you can tell they spent time on it and it is well thought of. Many people on epinions.com are friends and they tell each other "hey, I'll highly recommend your epinions if you do the same to mine" so they agree to it. I don't think this is fair because they are getting more money than they deserve. ANONYMOUS Have you ever heard of those anonymous people? They rate epinions but it says "anonymous". They must be afraid to tell you their real ratings. To all those people under the name anonymous, you should just be honest. If people don't like you because you thought their epinions wasn't well written and didn't give it a good rating, then let them not like you..at least you were being honest. To be under the name anonymous isn't honest though. It shows that you are afraid of people. PLAGIARISM Some dishonest people copy other peoples epinions which I don't think is right. Plus, they can get in much trouble for it. The message that I'm trying to get out is that everyone should just do their own work. As long as they do their best work, everything will be alright and you will get ratings and money you deserve. Copying peoples epinions is considered cheating. It is like cheating on a test. You shouldn't do things that aren't completely from you. EPINIONS Do not write something unless you know about it. It is pointless to write about a book you have never read or a movie you have never seen. If you do that, you are wasting peoples time. They want to know how good the movie or book is and whether it is worth watching or reading, and when people write things that they don't know much about, it is not helping people. OVERALL Overall, epinions is a good website. There are a few things, like I mentioned above that cause slight problems and it isn't epinions.com fault, it is just the way people are. I don't know if it will ever improve, but hopefully it will someday.  |
