At last, something to protect my baby

Written: Feb 01 '05 (Updated Feb 02 '05)
Pros:Combo lock, solid structure, can fit all my controllers inside
Cons:A little heavy, wouldn't take a whole lot to pry open
The Bottom Line: I think this case is a must have for any Xbox Lan party goer. It protects my stuff from falling out and keeps it away from most prying hands.

This is a rewrite of my previous review I thought my previous review of this case was crap so I decided to redo it.

The first time I took my Xbox to a Halo party, the bag I was carrying my Xbox in broke and my Xbox dropped two feet to the ground. Needless to say, I have been looking for a convenient and safe way to carrying my Xbox to Halo parties since then.

The problem with most of the Xbox cases out there is that they’re made out of fabric. I have a real big distrust of fabric cases because I’ve had too many break on me. That’s what prompted me to start looking at hard cases.

The one feature that I really wanted out of a hard case was the ability to carry around all four of my controllers. The only hard case that I had found only let me carry two controllers. Luckily I waited long enough for me to find this case. The Intec: G8260 is exactly what the doctor ordered.

The G8260’s exterior is made out of aluminum and seems pretty solid. There are no exterior pockets or compartments. The case uses two metal latches to hold the case shut. It also has a three digit combination lock that can be used to secure the case. The G8260 looks like a briefcase, just a couple inches thicker. The case has a black plastic handle for carrying. The interior of the G8260 has one compartment for the Xbox (perfect fit) and a Velcro strap to hold your Xbox in place. Along the front and side of the interior of the case are compartments that are meant to hold four controllers. I found that if you put the controllers on their sides, you can fit six controllers or four controllers and a large FPS controller. The lid of the case has several pockets to hold various items. There are two pockets that could probably hold 2-3 games each. There are several pockets for memory cards. The pockets are a simple netting/mesh material. There is nothing to close the pockets except for an elastic that is in the top of each pocket.

I’ve found the G8260 to be a great mind reliever. I don’t have to worry about anything falling out of my case, either it’s open or it’s shut. I also can engage the combo lock and not have to worry about my kids (or anybody else) getting into my stuff.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when I have all my stuff loaded up, the weight of everything seems to pull the top lip of the case a little further than it should. I don’t think it will break, but I doubt that the case and lock would stop a really motivated person from forcing the case open. However, those fabric cases only need scissors to get them open.

Overall, I think this case is a must have for any Xbox Lan party goer. It protects my stuff from falling out and keeps it away from most prying hands.
