| juliabeynon's Full Review: Corby Trouser Press 7700 |
After realizing I was throwing good money after bad on dry cleaning, we decided to do something about it and purchased the Corby trouser press.
I hate ironing. And I'm not very good at it. I had a tendency to somehow make wool trousers look shiny. My husband has to travel a lot and his suits would always have to go off to the dry cleaner simply because the trousers were wrinkled. It got to be pretty expensive, sometimes my cleaning bill would be as high as $70 a week!
Now, my bill is less than half that.
The press gives you the option of wall mounting, which we did. The only downside of wall mounting is that you lose the hanger for the suit jacket, but it was a small price to pay for the extra floor space. And, if you live in an apartment, space is like gold.
The unit plugs into the wall. The body is 37" tall, 15" wide and 3" deep when closed. You need a clearance of 13" to open it.
To use, you line up the stitching, place the trouser legs inside and close the door using the brackets located on either side of the press. There are three buttons to choose the amount of time you want to press your trousers (15, 30 or 45 minutes) and you press the red start button. There is a timer located on the control panel so you can see how long it will take until they are ready.
The only thing that I would complain about is that it doesn't do a good job with trousers that have any spandex in them. I have a few pairs that are made up of about 3% spandex and it creates ripples in them. But it works wonders on wool.
My husband uses it everyday. As soon as he gets home from work, his trousers go into the press and they're ready to go for the next time around.
