Top 10 Best Movies Ever: My Strange ListJun 27 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line My list ranges from Comedy to Action, to Drama. This is just my view. This list was very hard for me to narrow down to just ten. What I finally had to do is imagine that I was on a deserted Island and could only have ten movies to watch over and over. So, I thought about it. And I finally came up with my list. The list has movies on it that I have already seen more than a dozen times and would watch a dozen more. In no particular order The Matrix - Okay, I know everybody loved this movie and I am no exception. The movie stars Keanu Reeves as Neo. Neo is working in a boring job and leading a rather boring live before Trinity comes to see him. He then learns that everything he thought was real is very unreal. I remember the first time I saw this, my husband ordered it on Pay Per View late one night. I usually go to bed early, but after watching just a few minutes of this movie, I could not stop watching it. I have watched this movie many times and will watch it many more. Dogma - Wow! This movie is very violent, something I do not like, but it is hilarious! Again I watched this one on Pay Per View. The movie is about two fallen Angels trying to get back into Heaven. The only problem is that God is infallible and if they succeed the world will cease to exist. A woman named Bethany is sent to stop them along with her side kicks Jay, Silent Bob, The 13th Apostle Rufus and the Muse Serendipity. I laugh every time I watch this one. Also I have a big crush on Ben Affleck and he is one of the Angels. Titantic - Yes, I have seen this movie to many times to count and I will watch it over and over again. This movie is about a love story between a socialite and an artist. It is also the story of how the Titantic sunk. Kate Winslet is very beautiful and I love all the dresses she wore in the movie. I also like the fact that she is not toothpick thin like so many other leading ladies. Yes, I also cry every time I see it even though I know what is going to happen. The Outsiders - An eighties movie that was the start of many leading male actors today. This is the movie were I fell in love with Matt Dillon. In this movie we have the Soces (? spelling) and the Greasers. Two of the Greasers accidentally kill a Soce and run away. While they are gone they save some little kids from a fire and one of them gets burned pretty bad. I will always remember the line from this movie "everything good is gold". Thelma and Louise - This is a chick flick. In the movie Louise gets fed up with her husband and her and Thelma decide to take a road trip. A man almost rapes Louise and Thelma kills him. After that they are on the run from the law. This is also the movie that made Brad Pitt the star he is today. I also loved the ending (my brother hated it). The Breakfast Club - Another eighties movie (can you tell I am a child of the eighties?). Who doesn't love this movie that has seen it? This movie is about five students that end up in Saturday detention. They are all completely different, yet they find a common ground. And I fell in love with Jud Neilson (what happened to him?). I always remember him talking about his father and how bad he had it. American Beauty - This movie shocked me. It was not what I was expecting at all. A movie about a middle aged man named Lester going through a mid-life crisis. I loved it! I have also felt this way and I am in my twenty's. I loved the seen were he quit his job and blackmailed his boss. The only part I did not like is him having a crush on his sixteen year old daughters friend Angela. But, I am sure that happens more than we would like to admit. It's a Wonderful Life - I believe I was twenty two the first time I saw this. I was a stupid kid and never watched any movie that was black & white. Even though it is shown every year at Christmas time, I still own the video. In this movie we get to meet George. George is thinking about suicide after some money is missing from his bank. An Angel named Clarence is sent to save him. What Clarence does is show George how differnt everybody's life would be if he had never been born. Its a Wonderful Life is a wonderful movie that everybody should see at least once. Forrest Gump - "Run Forrest, Run" Tom Hanks plays Forrest Gump a man that is a little slow. Forrest is in love with with a woman named Jenny. Forrest and Jenny have been friends since they were children. Forrest would do anything for Jenny, but she does not feel the same way about him. I love the seen were Forrest is talking to the group of hippies in Washington and he sees Jenny. Jenny and Forrest run though the water to hug each other. I love how Forrest had an impact on so many different peoples life's, including Elvis Presley. There's something about Mary - I think this is the funniest movie I have ever seen! Ben Stiller's character is in love with Mary and has been since high school when they were supposed to go to the prom together. Ten years later he is still thinking about Mary and hires a detective to find her. The detective also falls in love with Mary and tells Stiller she is fat and ugly and married with a ton of kids. Stiller learns that Mary is in fact still beautiful and single, so he goes on a quest to find her himself. I laugh every time I see this one. If you get disgusted easily, than don't watch it! But, if you don't mind a few disgusting parts, then you have to see this movie and laugh till you cry! Well, there you have it my list of my top ten favorite movies of all time. This list was very hard to make! When I finally decided to make it, I could not think of any movies. So, what I did was take a list every time I thought of one. I ended up with thirteen and had to cut it back. A list of the other three that did not make the cut are... E.T., The Goonies and Fight Club. I hoped you liked my list and if you haven't seen any of these I hope you give them a chance. |
