Choosing a Title: Breasts? Booties? I love it? No! Tell Me the Product Name!

The Bottom Line It's simple...just add the name of the product!

I think creating an eye-catching title for an Epinion is the most difficult part of publishing articles on Epinions.com.

Of course the titles that grab the most attention are those with sexual connotations in them. You know...”See J. Lo’s Breasts” or “100 Way’s to Do It”. That’s not to say that some of these titles are legit. I regularly read authors who do use sexually related titles to lure readers in, and they write kickin’ epinions. However, a majority of these titles are just Epinion abuse.

Many writers that I read on a regular basis just give a short explanation of how they feel about the product. For instance...”My kids loves it”, or “These diapers make a mess”. And actually that’s how I used to create a title for my epinions.

However, I’ve found the most effective title to attract reads from search engines on the web i/e, non-members, is by including the name of the product in your title. And not only that. Add the title first. For instance. If you’ve just written an epinion on a breast pump don’t title it “got milk?” Title it...”Hollister Purely Yours Breast Pump : Got Milk?” By doing this, anyone who does a search on the web for Hollister Purely Yours will get your epinion specifically as a search result. That’s because you added the exact name of the product in your title.

I’ve just recently gone back and added the name of the product to the beginning of many of my earliest work, and I’ve seen an amazing increase of non-member hits to most of those product reviews. Let me give you an example.

Hollister Purely Yours Breast Pump: I only have 44 member hits. In February I received 17 non-member hits. In March I changed my title from “Great pump” to “Hollister Purely Yours Breast Pump : Got Milk? You Sure Will With This Pump” and I received 77 non-member hits that month. In April I received 72 and in May I received 78 non-member hits. That’s close to five times the number of non-member hits than before the title change.

And here’s another example:

Ruff and Tumble Changing Pad: I only have 61 member hits. In April I received 18 non-member hits. The beginning of May, I changed the name from “great alternative to a changing table” to “Ruff and Tumble Changing Pad: A Great Alternative to a Changing Table”. In May I received 54 hits. That’s almost triple the non-member hits than before the title change.

And one more example:

Evenflo Exersaucer: I have 118 member hits. In April I received 8 non-member hits. The beginning of May I changed the name from “my lifesaver” to “Evenflo Exersaucer: A Definite Must Have for Every New Parent”. In May I received 70 non-member hits. That’s almost nine times as many hits than before the title change.

Now I’m not saying my titles are very creative. I have a couple that I’m pretty proud of such as “Lansinoh- Are You in Nipple Hell?” But that’s a combination of the product in the title and it leans slightly in the sexually charged direction. But I can really see a difference in my income shared. And this is due to more non-member hits on my articles with new titles.

Hey, if you’re a witty person, and can come up with some amazingly creative titles...GREAT. Use it! But if you’re struggling with a title, include the product name and you’ll see a big difference of non-member hits. Go ahead and try it. Pick three or four epinions that you’ve written and change the title by including the product name. I can almost guarantee you’ll see a difference in your non-member hits.

***I have to include a disclaimer to this suggestion though. My disclaimer is this...make sure your articles are in A+ condition. These Epinions I have used as examples have a large majority of Very Helpful ratings, and they are very informative. I’m not so sure if your non-member hits will increase if you don’t have a highly rated epinion.

Good Luck!
