I've been piecing together a new computer, and obviously want to get the best price on the components. After some research I found that Buy.com had the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer soundcard for the best price, $111.14, with free shipping.
I checked reviews here at Epinions and was surprised to see that Buy.com was not rated very well. A co-worker had ordered the Altec Lansing Inmotion speakers for his iPod from Buy.com some time ago and his order went quite well. I figured I'd take a chance with Buy.com. I know some people have not had good luck with the free shipping option, but a little cursory research resolved this matter for me.
I ordered on January 26th and it arrived without issue on the 1st of February. That's perhaps a little long for shipping, but it was free and was only the second component, so it's not like I was waiting impatiently for it.
The item was packaged extremely well. There was no way my soundcard would be damaged en route.
A lot of reviews are critical of Buy.com's customer support. I didn't have to deal with customer support with my order, so I can't address that.
I was very pleased with this transaction. Buy.com might not be my first choice for electronic items, but I will certainly consider them.
