Somehow I think that is more information than your older brother needed to know.
:-)
But I do love your Epinions and hope you are keeping your buns warm this winter.

I Got Mine - (Reply to this comment)
by Granniemose
a few years ago,and i was very unhappy with it. I think they have improved them a lot since then. My daughter in law has a bigger one, and she just loves hers. I think the idea is OK, but mine had all these little separate gidgets and it was a bear to clean, I didn't know about the wet paper towel then, until I was told how other people cleaned their machine. In the meantime, those little thingies that you use to scrape between the ridges fell off the crowded counter and landed somewhere behind the fridge. No wonder I was frustrated. I wonder if George really invented them?

Bob, have to admit I never thought about any of the things you mentioned. Mainly because I didn't know any of those things.
I certainly appreciate the read, and very useful information, thanks!

Letta, it is a great and useful kitchen ditty hard for me to say those two things about anything to do with cooking :)
Appreciate the read and comment.

Savanna, to be honest I enjoy this more than the outdoor grill. I'm in a climate controlled environment, no bugs, and easy clean up. what could top that?
Appreciate the visit.

Well, I'd rather clean than cook so it works perfectly. All I can say is I'm glad Santa sprung for this delicious addition.
Keep up the good work chef!

Cords and switches (Reply to this comment)
by pvreditor
This is an excellent, thorough review that I enjoyed... almost as much as one of those burgers you described!
Of course, short cords and lack of switches ultimately boil down to cost but there are a couple of related concerns. A device like this draws a lot of power and a long cord will use up some of the power before it ever gets to the grill. What happens then is that the cord heats up and could become a fire hazard. You can make the cord fatter or you can make it shorter; obviously, shorter is cheaper. A longer cord may loop around and touch something hot, also potentially causing a problem. Then people would complain, "Where do I store the cord?!?"
Again considering the high-power requirements of these things, switches have to be very beefy to withstand all the power and deal with the heat. More often then not, the switch is the most common point of failure in one of these. The way to keep it cheap and reduce warranty claims is to eliminate the switch. I honestly don't know that $5 at the retail level is enough to put a good switch in these, considering the increased warranty activity the switch would generate.
However, your review needs no longer cords and sturdy switches.

I do the same with mine but I just have the small size George. Works for me and those wet paper towels do the trick. Loved the review.

George freakin' rules. He just does. Wish I had a softer spot for electric unnecessary kitchen gizmos....
Thanks for the insight!

I really dig those toasted buns. LOL.
What a great review on this. Loved it. I agree with you about the on/off switch. I don't know how, but my hubby always fixes those things for me so I have one after he gets done tinkering.
Surely George could do the same?
Hey, come back to H&G often. We love having you here.

Don't they get that consumers need an on/off switch? I just don't get it Di! Is it that costly? I hate pulling out the switch too. Used mine last night.

I keep threatening to get one of these, but never get around to doing it. Not surprising, though, since I can't even bring myself to spend the money for an outdoor grill. Maybe that's why everyone calls me cheap:)
Nice Review!

those burgers and steaks were good and I liked the warmed bun. And cleanup, man that's a breeze, especially since I don't have to do it.
George is a nice addition to our kitchen which is suddenly being overrun with fun new products.
