I wish I could give mine back! (Reply to this comment)

My blackberry got forced on me by the VP of IT (my boss). I hate the thing... maybe if I break it I can get a plain phone!

“Crackberry” effect...

My dad experienced that too, so he smashed his, I think. He could've just given it to me, y'know.

Nice review, and yeah, the tiny keyboard sucks.

Chris,

Underspend has my vote for Worst Business Euphemism of 2005. And it's still early in the year!

Anyway, glad to hear you had a relatively risk-free way to come to the same conclusion I did. I'm sure that in a year or two they'll come up with a more practical device of similar functionality, but until then, include me out.

Robert, I suspect we're on the cusp of Tivo-ness too. But you're right about the BlackBerry - it seems like it has to be cool... but it's just not.

Thanks for the comments.

we have an underspend at work, so I recently trialled my partners Blackberry for an hour or two.

Must confess as well as disliking it, I didn't really see many business uses. I guess that underspend is going back to the corporate pot this year!

Great write up Steve. Overrated by far.

to see what the hype was all about. The concept seems to be great, but I was cynical whether this was really necessary given, like you state, the advent of wireless hot spots, etc.

I also was very cynical of Tivo, too. I finally got one of those last month and I retract all my the jokes I made of all the Tivo owners the past few years.

But the blender feature may be too hard to resist...

Riding? (Reply to this comment)

it was fairly entertaining (and efficient) to be able to read and reply to emails while riding in a car

Thank goodness for airbags.
