With my kids getting older and the computer be used more and more for homework ect I decided that going wireless in the house would be a solution to scheduling computer usage times and I would not have to snake cables through out the house Purchased the Linksys wireless - B Broadband router 2.4 GHZ all indications on the box were a quick easy installation and you are on your way. Linksys recommends you use the installation CD No problem I like to keep it simple when it comes to computers. I went over the instruction per the installation wizard then when it got to the point where the wizard needed to check and see if the router would connect to the internet it would not. Wizards remedy turn off your modem and restart OK that accomplished wizard checks for connection. No connection so I start from the beginning and go over installation again same problem and the wizard only advice on how to solve the problem is to turn off the modem and turn it back on Got to be a joke right I Wish. I go to the second way to install which is to go to Linksys web site type in the password provided and follow the written directions. NO problem go to the web site and it does not ask for the password but if you try to use the drop down menus it will then ask you for user name which you are suppose to leave blank and then type in pass word provided you do this 3 times then you will get need authorization error page. after trying this several times I am looking at the 24 hr tech support line and wondering if I should even bother the answer is no this item has already been a bigger headache than I could of imagined it will go back to the place of purchase and I will be doing alot more research before I try to go wireless again.
Update I did some research and this was the reccomended product after a long time on the phone with someone overseas I was finally able to get this product to work easy to install??? Forget it Use the CD provided with unit?? Forget it just call customer service Because there easy installation CD will not work with XP.
I have found it quite undependable as far as keeping a connection
