Pros: Good outdoor use. Good price. Good markers.
Cons: Sometimes I want a smaller screen and more roads listed. Listing trails would be nice.
The Bottom Line: Good for beginners for outdoor use. Excellent battery life!

It's mainly for outdoor use I think. It does have the main highways and some major roads on it. I wish it had more, but that might clutter the small screen. I'm not sure I'd want a bigger screen though, because I use it for hiking. It's pretty good for hiking, but I think I may have to buy the topo map of the U.S. for 150 online and get it downloaded onto my gps. I think one of the downloads includes trails which would be excellent. The fact that the download is more than the unit is a little disconcerting. I hope it will be readable because it seems like it could be tough to read a black and white topo map on that screen. I used it to go to specific coordinates and it worked well for that. It also has the "breadcrumb" trail of where you've been which is handy in case you get lost. I like the markers, but the user input markers can get in the way if you have to many in an area. I haven't found the route feature to be of any use. I think it could be useful if you were driving long distances so it could tell you where to turn. Overall, I think it's a pretty good intro unit for the price and mostly for outdoor use. By the way, it has excellent battery life. It runs on 2 AA batteries and it claims it will do 6 hrs, but I found it to be more like 10.
