SBC DSL is a well priced home DSL service if you have telephone service with SBC. I received the hardware 2 business days after ordering, and I opted for the wireless option. The enclosed CD found and setup service. Unfortunately, I asked the software to merge my Yahoo Mail account. I checked email, and it contained 1 email welcoming me to SBC Yahoo DSL. I phoned tech support and was elevated to the next level. I was referred to Yahoo help because the software is provided by Yahoo, and SBC tech support was unable to offer any troubleshooting. I made 5 calls for help, the last requesting assistance to remove their software. One tech rep actually refused to discuss the issue with me since I already called in and the Yahoo software was not their software to support. If it works for you, good. If you are shopping for a DSL provider, I'm looking elsewhere. Maybe you should too. Before disconnecting, I ran Dan Elwell's broadband speed test. All but one test completed, and speeds were 386kbs (low) and ping times were 250-300ms (about 4x too long). I am real close to the switching center, and that's generally not considered satisfactory. Note this, if you move out of the area, even if SBC does not offer service at your new location, you're on the hook for a $200 early termination fee. I just left Verizon. If Verizon does not offer service where you move to, there is no early termination fee. Read the contract carefully.
