Light and Sexy: That's what I want to be remembered as!

I discovered Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana after querying the “Fragrance Guru” at Scentiments.com. I was looking for a fresh, light, clean, citrusy, sexy fragrance suitable for all occasions. I don’t like heavy floral scents and anything too strong overwhelms me. I also have allergies and, if I wear a fragrance that is too overpowering, I am sneezing and sniffling all day.
The recommendation I was given was Light Blue. The Guru said it would fit my requirements to a T. Because he never steered me wrong before, I went to www.scentiments.com and ordered a tester bottle of Light Blue.
When my order arrived, I was eager to see if it was a hit or a miss. I have many perfumes and fragrances but none at the time (I have since added Secrets by Dana to my list of everyday favorites) was something that was appropriate for both day and evening. The first whiff of Light Blue told me all I needed to know. It was exactly what I was looking for.
The Bottle
Many people collect perfume bottles or just like the look a pretty bottle. Light Blue comes in a fairly nondescript heavy smoked glass bottle with the name of the manufacturer and the name of the scent printed on it. I got the 3.4 oz of eau de toilette and it was a big handful of heavy glass bottle. Mine was a tester but I have since gotten the non-testers and the top of the bottle is a simple light blue top. The nozzle is a simple little plastic one that dispenses just enough fragrance for a wrist or one side of your neck For a middle end fragrance, the bottle is very simple. It comes packaged in a heavy light blue box. The gift sets come in nice light blue boxes with cream lining and a place molded into the lining for the different items. Not elegant but sturdy and pretty. All of the fragrance sizes are spritz/spray on type.
The Fragrance
It’s light, it’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s slightly citrusy. It is certainly not overpowering or strong, yet I have had a number of people ask me about the fragrance and tell me how appealing it is. It is the type of fragrance that people notice but that doesn’t enter a room before you or leave after you. It also works with your body chemistry and is unique on everyone. I think I like Light Blue so much because it isn’t a young teen scent and yet, isn’t what feel is an “older” scent either. It is so fresh that anyone of any age can wear it and smell nice.
According to scentiments.com, Light Blue contains citron, granny smith apples, bluebells, white rose and jasmine. There also are traces of amber, musk and cedar wood.

Basically, they are saying what I am but just in a more colorful way.
Lasting Power
This is where I was disappointed in Light Blue. Because it is a light fragrance, it seems to fade away after a few hours. I have worn perfumes and eu de toilettes that cost much less but lasted much longer. There is still a faint trace of the fragrance after several hours but a spritz or two freshens it up. I have since bought the body lotion and used that as a light moisturizing lotion and a good layer for the fragrance. I find this combo works well and the scent lasts much longer using both.
Type of Fragrance
Different web sites describe Light Blue in different ways. Some claim it is good for casual wear while others call it a more sophisticated scent for nighttime or more formal wear. I find it to be both. I wear it during the day when I am running around to the store or to appointments and I wear it layered with the body lotion at night when I am doing more formal things. I do tend to wear Issey Miyake when the occasion calls for something ultra sophisticated or formal but otherwise, Light Blue is my choice for any time. As I said, this is great for younger people as well as older. It doesn’t seem to convey any sort of message other you’re clean, fresh, snuggly, and sexy without being overpowering or covering up your natural scent. If you like very strong perfumes and fragrances, Light Blue isn’t for you. If you like to be fresh and clean, feel approachable, and know you’re not knocking anyone over with your strong scent, give it a try. It’s really wonderful.
Sizes and add ons
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue is sold in an 0.8 oz spray, 1.7 oz spray, and a 3.4 oz. spray. All are eau de toilettes and there is no perfume in this line. There is also D & G Light Blue scented body lotion, a body gel, body scrub gel, and a shower gel. All come in the signature light blue box. There are several gift sets available which come with the fragrance bundled with the body gel or lotion and shower gel or scrub as well. All smell wonderful and all work great together.
Bottom Line
This is a great, fresh fragrance for those who prefer a lighter scent. Although I would prefer that it last longer on its own, layered with the body lotion, it has decent staying power. It’s very fresh and very noticeable but in a subtle way. You won’t knock anyone over when you wear this but you will get noticed. I have tried to find a less expensive fragrance that replicates this scent but have not come close yet. Since a few spritzes go a fairly long way, I find Light Blue to be affordable enough to keep on hand at all times. Since I don’t care about the box, I always buy the testers when I can, which are around $5.00 cheaper for the 3.4 oz bottle than the regular bottles and are fresh and unused. I highly recommend the layering technique to smell fresh and clean all day or night with reapplying. While Light Blue isn’t the most high end or sophisticated scent I have used, it is the one I use most often. Those with allergies or sensitivities to strong fragrances will love this one. I am very sensitive to fragrances and I have no problem at all wearing this scent all day and all night.
Because I wish it did last longer on its own, despite the fact that it is my favorite scent, I have to give it four stars. It hurts to do that but if D & G can figure out how to make this fragrance last a bit longer on its own, it would be a five plus star fragrance.
You can order Light Blue from any good fragrance website or any good department store but beware! Some sites and stores charge ridiculous amounts for it. Comparison shop and, if you don’t care too much about the box, buy a tester. You’ll save money but still get the exact same quality and freshness. The gift sets are a great deal as well so if you see one that you think you’d like, go for it. All the products work so well together that you’ll be as hooked as I am on them.
