Illy Coffee (Reply to this comment)
by Penguinlady
I love the stuff, but can only get it pre-ground, which is a sacrilege. So I pass, unless I'm in a cafe where they brew it.
This sounds a lot like my La Pavoni, which I bought in the summer of 2000, after our trip to Italy. We use it about three mornings a week and are thoroughly spoiled.

We've never tried Lavazza; do they make pods? I don't have the patience to grind beans every morning. I tried a sample pod from Starbucks.
Sorry, Melissa, but I am not sure what a "pod" is. The machine we have has a compartment for the coffee beans and grinds them per cup. I push a button at the espresso setting and it just grinds and makes the coffee.
I take espresso black. In the morning, I sometimes have cappuccino. Not often though. My taste in coffee is very simple. I'm not a big fan of latte, or any other coffee variant for that matter.
I hope to be able to discuss this latte matter with Steve in person later this year. Perhaps in September or October.
All the best,
N

Hi Noel,
We've never tried Lavazza; do they make pods? I don't have the patience to grind beans every morning. I tried a sample pod from Starbucks. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as full bodied as Illy's espresso.
I don't like milky coffee, but I love the richness that a little bit of cream adds to it. My drink of choice these days, even in the evening, is a single shot with a small dollop of thick foam.
Steve, alas, is a latte man. There's nothing that ruins two shots of great espresso faster than eight ounces of lowfat milk. Can you talk some sense into him?
Thanks for stopping by,
Melissa

Espresso.... (Reply to this comment)
by ermitano
I was not a coffee drinker as a bachelor, save for when cramming for an exam during law school.
That all changed when I got married, or, rather, that all changed when I got married and my wife bought me a Saeco espresso maker (the model of which I never bothered to find out) around 5 years ago.
Now, I can't imagine life without my double espresso in the afternoon and, perhaps a single after dinner. When it's being serviced, I get withdrawal symptoms.
My wife loves Illy too. We use that and Lavazza at home.
Best to you and Steve,
N

Now that I've been using it for about a month, I can pull a macchiato with as much panache as anyone at Starbucks
Was there any question? You probably own more kitchen appliances and cook more than all Starbucks baristas put together. (this is a good thing)
This thing looks really stylo,

What's all this "we" stuff?
