I sell tea for a living, and I have to confess... I just LOVE Adagio!
It began this year when I was looking for a gift for my sister and brother in law, who are tea fanatics. They had never experienced loose-leaf tea, and I wanted to drag them away from the drudgery of tea dust that comes in the bagged varieties from the grocery store. A quick google for tea led me to Adagio. It was "love at first SITE" !
Adagio has a wonderful website layout. It is both aesthetically pleasing AND easy to navigate, not something you often find online at commercial websites!
This site is chock-full of fantastic tea information and great graphics. The pictures of their tea are gorgeous! Adagio has done a fine job of providing background information, history, and interesting little tidbits on all of their teas. Their site is so user-friendly that it's unbelievable. You can access their teas by type, and once you get to the teas you want, you can view those by region, by rating (this is SO cool!) or alphabetically. Each tea description features a photo of the tea, background information that includes a description, contents, and regional history of that tea, and the overall rating of the tea based on customer opinions.
Adagio is more than a mere tea merchant website. From their main site, you can access two other sister websites: teamuse, the online tea magazine, and teachat, a bulletin board about everything tea sponsored and moderated by the folks at Adagio.
Adagio offers 138 different varieties of loose-leaf teas, including black, flavored black, white, green, herbal, rooibos and decaffeinated. In addition to the tea selection, customers may order tea ware including some of the most breath-taking German-made glass teapots I've ever seen, and tea accessories like infusers and sweeteners.
Adagio Customer Incentives
If great tea selection, awesome information and an arena for tea discussion weren't enough, Adagio also offers some terrific incentives to their customers:
Once you purchase products from Adagio, you qualify to participate in their rating program. Customers are invited to express their opinions and share their experiences with tea and teaware that they have purchased. These reviews are then posted on the website for all to peruse. This is ingenious! Although tea preference is highly subjective, this is still a great way to help decide which tea is right for you. As an added incentive to encourage reviews, customers are offered $1 credit on their order for each review that they write. What a deal!
Adagio rewards return customers with a "frequent cups" point system. Earn points for each dollar you spend at Adagio, redeemable for coupons worth discount on your orders. (100 points is equivalent to $10).
Adagio also rewards you (and your friends) when you refer new customers to them via their $5 certificate program. Email a referral to your pals and they get $5 off their first order with Adagio. You get 10 points added to your frequent cups. A win-win-win situation!
My Experience with Adagio
I placed my fourth order with Adagio this evening, and with my frequent cups certificate, I had substantial savings! The teas that I've tried have all been fabulous: very fresh, delicious and high quality. I just love the fact that they offer the 10 cup samplers of tea that are VERY inexpensive. I have ordered about 15 of their little sampler tins and will reorder most of the teas I've tried. The little tins are very cute and practical for storage as well. The larger size orders come in air tight cannisters with lock-top lids- very cool!
In addition to tea, I have also ordered the ingenuiTEA pot and the utiliTEA kettle. I have been extremely pleased with the quality and performance of both products and I am anxiously awaiting the glass tulip cups and saucers I just ordered.
Packaging is terrific- they offer free gift wrap on their gift items and sampler sets. In addition, shipping is FAST! I placed an order and received my package 2 days later.
The Adagio folks are a friendly, witty bunch. I've emailed customer service and received pleasant, quick responses to my questions. I've also had a lot of fun browsing through Teamuse and chatting on the teachat boards. There have been some complaints both here at epinions and on the chat boards at Adagio about their customer service and how they treat their customers. From the tone of the complaint posts I've read on the chat boards, it sounds like the problems were in the attitude and I.Q. of the customers, not the Adagio staff. I've only experienced pleasant interactions with the folks at Adagio and they have always been speedy and helpful in their responses.
In summary, whether you are a tea aficionado or a tea-curious novice, you can't go wrong with Adagio Tea online. A great company with oodles of integriTEA!
Thanks for reading my review. :)
