Netflix vs Blockbuster Online. I tried both of the services and what I like about Blockbuster is the ability to upgrade to Blue Ray or video games without extra charges. Netflix gives you the ability to upgrade to Blue Ray for $2 extra bucks, but there is no PS3 option with them. What I like about Netflix is the ability to watch movies online, eventhough the online movies catalogs is not as extensive as the DVD Catalog, it still fills the gaps while you're waiting for a movie on the mail. Blockbuster rents each streaming movie. The netflix supports a large variety of devices to play their streaming media, Blockbuster compatibility list is very limited. So if you have a PS3 or WII you will be puzzled with the option of either playing netflix streaming movies on your TV using your WII,XBOX,PS3 or if you want to go to blockbuster to take advantage of their video games catalog.
All in all, each service has a value of its own. Choose the service that you need and don't let the price tag distract you from your decision. $1 or $2 price difference can be more valuable by taking advantage of the service you need.

RedBox Baby! (Reply to this comment)

Forget Blockbuster, reduce Netflix to about one out at a time, b/c Redbox is down the street. It's a buck, has the new titles and convenient. Redbox Baby!

It Really Comes Down to Just One Thing: (Reply to this comment)

And that's whether or not you like the convenience of in store returns. BB has made it very easy for in store renters to try out the occasional online rental. Netflix edges them out in most online rental areas (except the throttling of new releases), but can't compete with the physical locations of BB. I've used both and am a current Netflix user, but finding myself at Redbox a couple times per month when I really want to see a movie.
Found another good overview here:

I'd love to see an alliance between Netflix and Redbox. I've used both BB and Netflix and am a current Netflix user. But BB has recognized their strength and their newest plans cater to folks who are primarily instore renters, and might dabble online. I love Netflix, but often find myself at Redbox for rentals. Netflix with any kind of physical presence could be the nail in the coffin.

I *heart* Netflix (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for the review, it makes my opinion about Blockbuster trying to rip off Netflix much more valid ;) They couldn't compete and now that they're trying harder they are still falling short with 6-8 day turn around? *pssh* I get my Netflixs the next DAY after they get my DVD back. Then again I think the distribution center is 40 minutes away ;)
Thanks for the excellent review!
