Pros: energy and water efficiency
Cons: suds; trapped socks; vibration
The Bottom Line: not recommended based on my experience -- minimal soap still causes suds at end of cycle; socks get trapped in door canal and under door window; excess vibration.

| algy's Full Review: Kenmore Front Loading Washing Machine 44052 |
we're having an odd and annoying problem with this machine -- we're using less than a quarter of the lowest recommended amount of HE detergent, yet during the final spin suds get spewed out of the canal between the drum and the door, so that when you open the door after the cycle ends you have to wipe suds off the bottom of the door's plexiglass window and most of the rubber gasket around the door -- otherwise the laundry would get suds all over it as you removed it! mind you, we're on our second edition of this machine (the first was delivered with its back legs crushed and had to be replaced), and had the same problem with both machines. a sears repair center rep suggested using less detergent but, given how little i'm down to already, i don't think my clothes will get clean if i use even less.
also, small items such as socks get caught in that well or under the bottom slope of the plexiglass as the machine operates.
the only explanation that occurs to me is the larger door size -- somehow the design of that could account for these problems?
last but not least, no matter how much we reinforce our floor (with 3/4" plywood) and level and re-level the machine, it still vibrates more than i'm comfortable with.
all i know is i'm about to return this machine too, once i decide what other brand of front loader to replace it with!
