Australian Hillbillies. (Reply to this comment)

Yes, unfortunately we do have hillbillies over here, and yes they are portrayed with eery reality in Priscilla. That is what they are actually like. Thankfully they are confined, mainly, to small outback towns.
Also, check out "Billies first hollywood screen kiss". Not a great movie by any stretch, but it's just so cute that you can't stay angry at it. It's got Jack from will and grace in it, good fun.

A bloody good list all in all.

I've seen the Birdcage (very funny movie) and Priscilla Queen of the Dessert. That's about all out of your list. :-)
good review,

Great review! I very much agree with many of the films on your list, and the ones I haven't seen I will check out. Have you seen Jeffrey? A little campy, not top 10 material exactly, but still a fun movie...

I have only seen a few on your list but have written the rest of the titles down so I can check them out. I agree with Hannah, "I loved When Night is Falling" too.

Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work!

and very detailed and well written. I, too, really enjoyed And the Band Played On -- what an excellent film.

Great List... (Reply to this comment)

A wonderful list, but also wonderful short-reviews of each of the movies included. I thought you justified your choices very well. I especially liked that you included "Bent" and "Maurice," as they are both somewhat outside the mainstream...and yet, possibly two of the best on your list. Bent, in particular, has just seamless filming and wonderful acting.

There are a few others that rank as high...When Night is Falling (although it's a little heavy on the "God" stuff), Torch Song Trilogy, Fire(absolutely amazing Indian film), and Female Perversions (it sounds awful, I know, but it's really good, if a little Freud-happy).

Great list....
