| xyzwyatt's Full Review: Presto Replacement Powercup Concentrators 09964 |
Once you have purchased a Presto PowerPop Microwave Multi-Popper you will also have a need to purchase the PowerCup inserts which are sold separately.
I purchased my PowerPop over a year ago and was afraid that the PowerCup would be difficult to find so I stocked up on them. Yesterday I saw that the PowerPop and the PowerCup concentrators were still being sold at Wal-Mart. Presto PowerCups can also be ordered online at many places. The Presto Part Number is 09964. Here is the link to order it directly from Presto:

The package retails for $1.99 for 8 concentrators or $1.49 on Prestos website. The package comes with 8 cups that look a lot like a paper plate and is approximately 5 inches in diameter. There is a gray tint to the paper which is a special patent design to pop every kernel. I have always found that 99 to 100 percent of the kernels have always popped.
Popped kernels are helpful because you wont have to worry about choking or breaking a tooth on kernels. It is also nice to have kernel-free popcorn when making recipes.
The package does not reseal once it is open so I put the extras in a so they dont get dusty while in the cabinet. They fit nicely in a Ziploc sandwich bag.
The concentrator fits nicely in the grooves at the bottom of the PowerPop. It does not slide around and will not fall out if turned upside down. The instructions say that the concentrator will last a few uses but I have found that they last 15 to 20 uses as long as oil is not used. If I use oil, Im lucky to get 3 uses out of the concentrator. The concentrator does not need to be wiped off after use and you wouldnt want to get it wet because it is like paper.
You will know when the concentrator is done and needs to be thrown away because it starts to turn brown. To replace simply pull the concentrator out by the little tab on the side and put a fresh one in. The old concentrator goes in the trash. I store the used concentrator inside the popper that away I dont have to worry about germs, dust, or forgetting to put the concentrator in for the next use.
The warning on the bag says:
Warning: Use only genuine Presto PowerCup concentrators. Use of any other concentrator or microcrisp paper will damage your Presto PowerPop multi-popper.
I have no idea how true this statement is but I have not seen any generic substitutions for this product.
