Good price, good at returning calls, could be better on notifying via e-mail

Their website could use some redesign, but it is functional. We ordered the King HP via the web on 1/29/05 and paid $1,199.00 This included 2 Hollander king pillows, mattress pad, 200ct-linens set in white. We received the pad, pillows and sheets about 2 weeks later in a separate shipment since they come from a different supplier. We received the mattress via DHL on 2/22/05. We did receive an order confirmation e-mail on 1/30 and an e-mail with tracking number on 2/21/05. In the interim, I began to wonder when we would be receiving our mattress - the initial e-mail said: "We will send you your tracking numbers once your order has been picked up for delivery, this normally takes about 5-7 business days." This led me to believe that it would take less than 3 weeks to get the mattress. I did call after receiving the pillows, etc. and Richard told me about a production delay and that we were on target for shipping around 2/20. I could understand that, but why not e-mail your customers? If the website and e-mail gave a more realistic wait time, building in the possibility of delay, I would be fine with that. Why not surprise a customer with eariler than expected delivery rather than later than expected? 3 weeks is not a long time to wait, unless you're sleeping on the floor. But tell me! That is my only real criticism of the buying experence. I should also mention that my calls were promptly answered on the same day I placed them. I would do business with Nationwide again, I'll just make sure I give myself plenty of time.
