| mike2mikeca's Full Review: TERK TV-55 TERK Indoor/Outdoor Amplified TV Antenn... |
TERK TV55 is a slick antenna that is just not up to its billing. Its manual states that this antenna was designed for both single and multi-family homes. The sales person made it sound like you could just stick the antenna outside, if you should so desire, with no regard to signal direction, because of TV55s advance helical antenna technology. The fact is that to get a good reception, you still need to pay attention to the basics.
Where I live, near the HOLLYWOOD sign, signals are pretty strong. Yet from the beginning, TV55 was just okay. It could be possible that my unit was defective, but when it rained, TV55 soaked. I thank TV55 for showing me, in the rain, exactly where NBCs signal was coming from (52 degrees from magnetic North).
That was enough for me. I took down TV55 (would you like to buy my unit?) and installed Winegard PR-4400. Havent had any problems since.
