I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THETWISTERGROUP.COM AGAIN, partly because of its illegal hacking and partly because of its poor services all described below.
Epinions.com and Shopping.com please do not remove this review. It's important that consumers be able to view complaints and make independent judgments.
HACKING
TTG hacked into my private, password-protected account at another compare-prices-and-online-merchants website and changed my review and questionnaire answers from being critical of TTG to being supportive and appreciative of TTG. The other compare-prices website used IP Address identification to determine that TTG had, in fact, hacked into my account.
I filed a complaint against TTG with the Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC). The IFCC is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National White Collar Crime Center. TTG is aware of my IFCC complaint.
POOR SERVICE
The details of my original contacts with TTG are below.
I needed batteries for my Panasonic and Canon digital cameras. TTG's website had one Panasonic OEM battery and two Canon batteries (one OEM and one generic). On 2/23/5, I placed an order for two of the Panasonic batteries and two generic Canon batteries. I was given an order number. However, TTG's order-confirmation page said that my order was "Pending" because of some unexplained 'problem with shipping.' TTG promised to contact me. On 2/24/5, TTG didn't contact me. I checked the TTG website and was startled to find that TTG gave NO PHONE NUMBER to call. TTG gave no explanation of why no phone number was supplied. In addition, I was surprised to find that TTG offered three more brands of generic Canon batteries that hadn't been offered the day before. I searched for TTG's phone number, using Google and AT&T's AnyWho. No luck. I then sent a message to TTG via its 'Contact Us' page. I asked: for help in selecting a generic Canon battery; if I could change my order to get the brand that TTG recommended; why my order was "Pending;" and when I would receive the shipping cost. I also added this statement: "I tried to find your phone number at your website. None was given. As an aside, I will not deal with your company again, due to your unwillingness to give a phone number. I don't like dealing with companies that act 'incommunicado.'" Soon thereafter, TTG "Support" emailed me, stating: "We don't provide the phone number for very simple reason: this is the only way to offer you low prices. If you'd like to have a phone number you may shop at higher price companies to pay for their phone support. Since you do not want to deal with our company we'll be happy to cancel your order. Just let us know. Please visit manufacturers' website to learn about compatible batteries. We'll keep your order on hold until we hear from you." Then, I researched TTG's different batteries. I found that TTG had misstated the specifications for the Canon OEM battery. I emailed TTG, changing one generic Canon battery order but keeping the other batteries as originally ordered. I asked when I would be told about the "Pending" shipping cost. I received no response. Hours later, I sent a second email (third message), asking when I'd hear from TTG. Shortly thereafter, TTG Support emailed me, saying "We received your email and will reply." I received no reply. About twelve hours after my first message to TTG, I emailed TTG, canceling my order. Almost immediately, TTG Support emailed me, confirming that my order had been canceled.
I have to wonder whether TTG kept my order "Pending," because it lacked one or more of the batteries that it claimed were in stock.
