I bought the phone because I thought it was a great looking phone. At the time Cingular was the only company that offered it, so I switched from TMobile to Cingular. At first I loved the phone, it was working much better than the Samsung I had through TMobile. The phone had a camera on it which came in very handy. The phone worked in more places than the Samsung. But then, the earpiece happened. A few months ago, the sound in the earpiece on the phone went to... well, it went. If doing anything other than sitting in a silent room, with the volume up at 7 I can't hear anything. If I have my bluetooth headset on, I hear perfectly. It's annoying to not be able to use the phone as it was originally intended. Plus all the looks that I'm crazy (they don't see the headset) and Robocop comments get old really quick. I have since found the unlock code for the old Samsung and use that when I want to use the phone since I can't stand the crappy V600. I'm sorry, but when you pay $250 for a cell phone the damn thing should work perfectly, not work when it wants to. Yet another product I will never buy from an American company. I would highly recommend just unlocking your phone with your old service if switching to a different GSM enabled company. Oh, yeah. About Cingular... Since the merger with AT&T I have not had any issues with them. In fact, I get "more bars in more places" - literally. I can make calls in my parking garage under my building now, I can make calls in areas where my Verizon phone (for work) gets no service. I suppose I'm the only person who thinks the merger was a good idea, but then again, I'm sure there are others like me out there who have had nothing but more bars since the merger. IMO - I would gladly choose Cingular (or TMobile) over Verizon anytime - the sound quality on their networks is *SO* much better - it's almost as good as a landline - versus Verizon which always sounds like I'm on a cellphone - very embarrassing when making important phone calls.
