And when I say this, I mean that you are one of them. You are the bandwagoner of all sports teams. When a team is doing good, you will watch them and go to the games; when they do bad, you refuse to watch and attend them. You make it seem that Epinions.com is a job that you thought was too good to be true but are thinking that you have figured that this is stupid and you will drop them like a bad habit. Thus, you assume that people who use this site have no life .... ie. a revision of your words in the last two paragraphs. Epinions.com -- even if it goes down -- will always be considered a hobby to me, you make it seem like it is a low paying part time job. Sorry to pinpoint you Jenni *laughs* but people are always like this, whether it be on the information superhighway or in real life. You could basically change all the "you"'s to about 1000 more members.
But I did acknowledge your opinion on the sites future but simply did not agree with the threatful abandonement of the site.
Keep up the good work though, your reviews have been excellent to date ... that is why I keep coming back!

I dont think so...I've often wonder what the 'real' income is from this hobbie. I doubt very much that it is paying anything close to minimum wage for the vast majority of us.
I think that the reason many of us do it is because it alows us to use the 2-3 minutes that we cant use for anything else sometimes.
Eventually, however, people will seek a real disernable pay off from Epinion postings (dollars and cents).
I dont think it'll happen. My prediction (based on nothing more than terrot card readings...and I dont read terrot cards) is that the 'pay' will soon be turned into something other than cash. Probably gift certificates.
I'm not saying it's going to happen, but if it does, I'm out. I'll find something better to do with 2-3 minutes. At that point washing laundry makes more sense and be more enjoyable.

If Epinions was really going down the tubes, they would've been gone by now. The reason why they sacked a lot of staff was to cut back on money. Heck, you still get paid with Epinions, which is a lot more than you'll get with other paid to surf companies right now. Desktop Dollars has ended their paid surfing now.

And thank you for taking the time to write that out even though you now won't be paid even one cent for that epinion :-) And even during the periods when I have had lots of free time to read through and rate tons of epinions and write many myself, my income share was lame! Yes, we could deal with the drop in royalties, but this is getting ridiculous.

I recently reported abuse on the site and got two individualized responses from real people. I was very surprised as I thought they didn't have staff to do that. I was also very disappointed as their response was to let the obvious abuse continue. I do wish they'd clean up the site. I guess you're right that they didn't really listen, but at least real humans replied. Thanks for writing.
